    Pirelli Diablo 240 tire?

any reports on this big tire yet? Looks like the custom sportbike builders are using it. Only thing is, not sure what front tire is available to match? Also it may be uber soft compound and wear too fast for me....

I had the Pirelli Diablo tire on my V-Max, 190/50/17 and still have the Diablo 120/70/17 on the front. Great tire as fare as handling goes, BUT the rear only lasted about 2000 miles. (no burn outs) IMO the weight of the bike (and me) is to much for that type of tire. On long rides the tire would over heat and start to come apart like an eraser.

The Diablo tire is gonna be soft and longevity suffers as a result. Pirelli and Meztler are made in the same plant with basically the same compounds(different tread patterns) so I don't see why a standard ME880 front couldn't be used with the Diablo rear. I saw internet deals last year for the 240 Diablo at around $150 so the price isn't too bad.

I paid $156.85 Landed + mounting and balancing $26.00 and will probably get 1/2 the mileage as the Metzler 240 [:(]
I have a brand new Metzler 240, i picked-up off of Ebay, parked in my garage that i paid $202.95 Landed waiting to be installed when needed
mdfdwarrior ... I'm still running the ME880 Marathon Frt tire as listed in my bike gallery modifications. There is a definite similarity between the Diablo & Metzler rear treads.

Upon receiving the new Diablo tire i was able to make a side by side comparison with 357WARRIOR's new unmounted 240 Metzler. It was at that time that i knew i had made the wrong choice, my finger nail penetration test for durometer, but the die was cast [:(]
