Re: New Raider stretch

The Raider comes w/66T rear pulley and the frt is either 31T, so there's room to improve what's lost here IMO Cake

Over on the Delphi Forum the Stratoliner/Roadliner (70T) & Raider guys are looking at swapping pulleys

[;)] EDITED: 11/29/08 - Supercedes earlier 2-column chart - Raider frt pulley = 31T per Owner's Manual

Here's an Excel sheet that you can download and or simply insert a new row between 2 existing rows to retain the atuo calculations. The % change will be based on the Warrior cell in blue though.

AlanH or someone can you explain to us who do not have advanced degrees in kickassology what this percentage change in the gearing ratio translates to the power or performance of the warrior?

I have been reading a lot about changing the front pulley to a 31t, which should increase torque and make for a more powerful take off but may decrease the smoothness of the ride at higher speeds/rpms. Is that correct?

And regardless of the other opinions I would be interested to see the Raider when all these mods are done. I just think motorcycles are great and seeing a different approach, practical or not, is always fun and exciting!

Re: New Raider stretch

Ok, here is the beginning stages of the prototype. The starting weight was a healthy 71 pounds before any machine work.
As it is right now, the part is about 40 pounds. When I modeled it up with all the contouring the final weight should be about 12 lbs. 9 inches of stretch, 2 inches up and 50 degree angle. I checked the squareness and everything is within .001" .

The way this works is, the part that I am installing registers from the original bearing bores. This will align it perfect, and will aid in the assembly of the modifications. There are two tangs that I will use to rotate it to a perfect spot.

I will post more pics later this week, when I get the front bearing bores machined and the alignment plugs complete.

And for the curious, I also ran a stress analysis on this using 1000lb load at the wheel. At the 12 lb completed weight, the analysis showed that the forks or the original frame will fail before this mod will.

Wow, how many miles did you put on the Raider before tearing it down? Wish I had the experience to try stuff like that![^]

I am working on the front bearing bores right now; I will post a pick later tonight.

I had a pm asking me if these would work on a warrior; I am sure it would.
