    "go fast parts"

with all you know now and all the things you've tried, if you were to start all over trying to make your warrior run strong ET's and keep in a somewhat sane budget ($2000.00 or so) how would you set up a bone stock bike.

i will be picking up my warrior in the next two weeks (got to finish the shed first). i will be riding this as my only street bike, but want to run it a couple times a month at several local dragstrips.

any help with this would be great. be easy on me this is my first post

Depends on whether you want to run heads'-up or bracket. For Bracket racing, if you want rock solid consistancy, stay with a stock motor. If you prefer Heads'-up racing and want a little extra umph, go 108 for less than a grand, easy.
For less than 2k, you can lower and stretch it; slap on a fairing/cowl/drag bar/31-tooth pully/shiftlight; pcIII; some new coils and wires; BAK; better seat, lighten it up a hair... lots of little things that help out over-all. Get it cheap by checking RSW Classifieds or E-bay.

1-Get a power commander, PR air kit, V&H 2-1 header, have it mapped.
2-Lower the bike especially the front, run 18-20lbs air in rear tire and spend the rest of your money making lots of laps on tune and test nights at your local track.
    3-Have fun!

thanks for the help guys. i have a paint sceme in my head for later on and i will want the exhaust system blacked out, any ideas on turning a chrome pipe black? and will it stay looking nice? also seams from reading on the forum that it is somewhat split between the v&h pipes and the rinehart(bub), wonder which makes better "mid range" h.p.? and one last question on this for now, i understand the fuel map part of a PC III, but it does not raise the rev limit like the "yamaha" box does it? it that really needed to make a hot little street rod/drag bike

Even if you get the Yamaha "box"(ECU), for it to run at it's full potential, you will need the PC111 with a custom map after your modifications.

If you are talking revs and a speedstar ECU then you have another whole issue on your hands moneywise. You are now mating the components to make the most of each individual part and you are gonna plop down some serious money on internals. Ask Oliver. (Or the above and original "fastest m.f. on a warrior", Monsieur Underdog.)
For me it was a delicate balance of worth equalling value. If I put something on the bike that was negated by not putting another something on the bike, then it was money wasted. When I went for looks, I lost speed --- when I went for speed, I lost comfort --- when I went for comfort, I lost looks. On and on, ad nauseam.
The argument over pipes will read like a novel but most agree that the V&H 2-1 is a jewel. I run Shogun Shorties (just cause I like 'em) and had my PCIII mapped for the quarter-mile to match. By the way, be careful with powdercoating your pipes; black will tend to "yellow" with some applications. I prefer low-tech BBQ paint and it is extremely durable.
Oh, and one more thing, if you have a local track close by, you are one lucky man. They just closed our local track to build a subdivision... I am f'n heartbroken.

blubruce, sorry to hear about your local track closing down, not trying to rub it in but i have two diff tracks within 45 min.. three others within three hours drive. i have not made a single pass on ANY bike in over 10 years and am really starting to miss my old drag bike. i have several friends that have stayed with racing and are now moving up into the 4.90 bracket. i do not want to ever go that fast. i guess my fastest pass is around 6.20, and that is a fun pass without being to "over the top". i should have made it alot more clear about what i was and how i was going to set up the bike. the $2000.00 budget is for now and maybe an extra 1500.00 or so in the fall. all i want is for the warrior to look great, run like a raped ape, and be able to do coast to coast riding with g-wing like comfort. no problem, right??

    thanks again

You are a lucky dog to have that many options for racing and it sounds like you are getting back into something you already know plenty about. Geeeez though, ten years without a pass must have made you feel sick.
1/8th mile in the low 7's are easy enough with stock engine on the RSW and with your kinda fun money, you should enjoy some time in the garage and the track. (I had to nickel and dime mine.)

(As far as coast-to-coast, I am in awe of the folk that have done it... The West Coasters for Star Daze and JustDave to name a few. I wouldn't do it on a bet with my setup. But hey, you already got 2 out of 3, right? Looks and speed... who needs comfort?)
