    Bob Cody:

I'll be doing this very-same install (links/spring) this weekend.

You described how you removed the stock spring... (thanks!)  But how did you compress the Eibach enough to install IT??  Do you have any tricks/tips for the INSTALL?

    Thanks in ADVANCE...

    messx03:
All I did was put it in a vice , crank the preload down an extra 3 or 4 turns , 4-6 large zipties on the spring and unscrew it. Nothing but a little pop when it came off.I put my full face helmet on and some welders gloves when I was unscrewing it, just in caseCake[8D]

The Eibach is shorter and should go on the shock with enough room to screw the nut and lock nut on without having to compress it.

Thats right . When you get the stock spring off ,just slide the eibach on and put the adjuster nut and the lock nut on . Oh and screw everything down so there are several threads showing after the lock nut to get the full 1000 lb effect.

Not sure about the length but there is approx 1/4 in to 1/2 inch of threads showing after the locknut.

And the measurement from end to end could be anywhere from 10 inches to 12 ,depending on the woman Hmm

You all forgot the most important thing. Lets see what the bike looks like now with and without you on it.

I haver encounterd one more thing i am ashamed to ask assistance for but i justy don' t see how it works.

Wen you have the stock spriong there aretwo nuts one for pre-load and one as a counternut for the previous one.
Neither one of thes can come of without removing the top mount  (eye) this is where i am stuck, how the hell can you remove this eye???

there is a snap ring on the bottom of the shock you will see when ya loosen everything up,just take that off and it all slides off the bottom if memory serves since it's been like 2 years since i took it apart.

Nope were the N°5 points to there is no snap ring, only a flange that will not allow the centering ring of the spring to pass.
On the other side i have from top down:

    Eye
Rubber thingie with toothed ring around it, if i turn this toothedf ring i hear klicks ( rebound?)
    locknut
Pre-load nut with built in centring colar
spring and so on and so on

Am i correct to assume that the eye has to comme of before i can go anny further and is so how can i remove the eye?

Stevo ... '03' & up years w/ Ajustable Rebound Damping Force have a thin round split wire retaining ring under the collar in a groove on the shock O.D. as stated. It is not a snap ring and isn't that visible until you collapse the collar.

I had the same problem when I fitted my Eibach spring. There is a spring clip that holds the collar (Figure 5) in place, when you have the lock rings loosened you can move the spring enough to locate the clip. Remove the clip and the collar comes off, allowing you to remove the spring.

    I hope this helps.
