D.I.Y. hot rod style air intake

I was considering a different look. I decided to see how a hot rod lookng air intake would look. I also wanted to shy away from the single round HD looking RH side air cleaner. So with my trusty dremel I took the top 4 or 5 inches of the stock black plastic RH side air box (The-Bear came thru by being a graet guy and providing me his _ Thanks John). I then blanked off the side where the stock yami chrome coffin was mounted to it. I used a piece of 0.090" thick aircraft quality aluminum sheet and mounted two Mr. Gasket 4" diameter air cleaners to it. The end result is about $30.00 total (plus my time and a coffee and a muffin for The_Bear). The air cleanres are made of chrome plated steel and cost like $10.00 each at my earby C.A.P. store. Another $10.00 worth of stainlss steel hardware was used o bring all the parts together. Now it's time to order and install a Churchkey V-BAK and I'm all done my mods for this winter.

Let me all hear your comments. I would also like to add that the close proximity of the inside of my right kneee is the same as it was with the chrome plastic coffin.

looks great!, try spliting some fuel hose or using wiring split loom and running it around the edge, i think that you will find it finishes it of really nicely.

looks hot, I would either polish the aluminum back plate or paint it black for a more finished look. What a unique idea.

Well, this bike has the curves, and it has the jugs, it's only natural!

Thanks for the advice and comments thus far!

Perhaps ducting the whole thing to the throttle bodies? It might be a whole new breed of BAK!
AND it will have the added advantage of NOT having to remove the tank etc to clean the filters (which is one thing I really can't STAND doing... overandoverandoverand....). Lots of advantages to that.
