I am currently in the process of making a metal jig at my work, this way i would have an exact cut off, and placement everytime.  this sounds like a good oportunity for a little business venture, expecally when yamaha should have done this in the begginning.... this is kind of a interest post, so if anyone is iterested in it, ill try to get pictures.

I called Spiegler this morning.  What I really wanted was help in figuring out what Fitting F2 I needed.  What I got was a young man telling me that the Type 570 mentioned by Chuck was not right for the application.  I'm not sure why.   Chuck I trust.  Can anyone help me with this?

    Thanks,

Thanks, but... i wouldn't bet on my suggestion!  Geeked I was just theorizing and i certainly don't know if it would work.  I still haven't done this mod as i see a few recent folks having problems, and i'm still not happy with the brake line routing and caliper serviceablility.

I have bled my rear brakes several times and replaced the rear brake pads once since I have done the hidden rear caliper mod.  No problems whatsoever...

Hey.. I forgot to post up in here.. By the looks of this photo, I'd say I'm pretty much done..I still have to remove a little more material.. brake pedal is WAY lower than what it was before... but the rear tire will lok up if I jam down on it..

I may need to bleed them again.. but I'll also shave down a little more material and see if that doesn't help as well.

I do LOVE the way it looks right now.. ;-)

Hidden Rear Brake mod, bracket welding done by A Steel Dream Welding, ASteelDream@aol.com

Phone: 505-410-1501, I chose to do the finish work myself, but they offer to finish as well

Very satisfied with their work.  A Steel Dream Welding is in N.M. and is very reasonable.

unfinished caliper back from NM finished and in place on my bike.

Hope this helps... Stick out tongue

Looks good.  Can you link or post a larger installed picture or close-up?

    Thanks for posting this.

I havent seen anything about this on here so I'll ask it. This will work with the stock location of the rear reservoir and the stock break line right?

Yes it will work. You will need to grind the swingarm a little to get the clearance for the caliper.

Re: My version of the Hidden rear caliper

Definitely need to grind the inside of the swingarm. I ran into this problem myself.  After I finally figured it out, it wasn't bad, but you have to grind more than you'd think.  More than a simple Dremel would do, at least in my case.

Re: My version of the Hidden rear caliper

We need to keep this thread going as it one one of the best mods that I have seen as well as one of the most affordable.  I personaly am planing on doing this mod in short order over the winter months.
