    Antother DIY BAK

Here's a pic of my BAK...wanted to use pvc as velocity stacks, but didnt realise how stock throttle body to air box coupling worked untill i tore into it. Instead of using the pvc like i originally intended (couldnt because i didnt have any rubber boots to clamp to throttle bodies) i just pulled the stock elbows out of the air box and clamped my uni's to them. I used the 1/2" plug that came with the AIS block off kit to plug the hole in the rear elbow (see pic). So...what do you all think? Bike runs fine, dont know if i picked up any ponies or not. What do you think about me running the rear breather tube into the hole in the rear elbow...any plusses or minusses to doing this? Still getting backfiring when throttle is between accel and deccel (neutral)[:(][:(][:(], even with AIS. I have big shots too. What would you all recomend for ecu bump until i get the pcIII installed?

Running the rear breather tube into the elbow would (I think) cause premature plug fouling and carbon build up. I puff oil at times. I think I would leave it as is. Does this set up make a lot of sucking sounds?

Looks good, I would run it for 50 miles or so and check the sparl plugs, then ajust ECU from there.

doesnt make as much sucking sound as i thought it was going to. You hear it the most when you first take off, but it isn't very loud.

has anyone seen any type of cold air/ram air settups to assist the BAK...seems to me that this settup would greatly benefit from some colder air rather than sucking in the warm air from above the engine....

yodie, if you still want to use the PVC pipes, here's what you do... The section you found the 1 1/2" street elbows, there should be something called 1 1/2" no-hub couplers. These are what I used on mine:

These are rubber sleeves with what looks like an aluminum sheath around it. You will definitely need to modify these. When you see it, you will understand.

I USED to use K&N filters on my dirt bikes and quads. Until I found dust in the inlet boots (carb side of filter). After that went to UNIs, no more dust in the boots. We are talking a lot dustier environment than our bikes will ever see, but over time??? Just my .02.

Until I get my 110 [;)] and get my custom map, I've been using Amospro's map with great results.
