    Mods to Barons VBak

I know a lot of you have said that the Barons VBak does anywhere near as good results as the ones from other suppliers, due to the fact that the K&N Filters fit straight on top of the intake stacks. There is a cheap and easy mod which I have just finished. If you turn the Air Box which you removed from the bike upside down you will see that there are two rubber elbows moulded into the Box that normally clamp onto the intakes these can easily be removed, with a little care, and they will then give you a 90 Deg elbow to mount onto the Intakes. If you carefully remove some of the rubber from the inside of the Filters which Barons supply with a craft knife, these 90 Deg elbows will fit exactly inside the Filters, you can use rubber adhesive on the elbow before fitting the filters on and then when you attach the elbow and filter assy back onto the intakes you can do the final adjustment to get the angles correct before the adhesive sets.
You have now got a smooth flowing intake almost as good as the one from Churchkey for the price of one tube of Adhesive on top of the price of the Barons kit. This is only relevent to those of us that bought the Barons Kit by mistake, when they should have waited to get the real deal.
If anyone would like photos just let me know and I will take them before puting the tank back on.

Good thinking. I almost bought the Barons when I first joined the fourm but had no play money at the time. If it ever quits raining in Sacramento so I can get back to work I'm getting Woodys kit. You should post a pic anyways so you can button her up ride and we can see what you did.

Good idea, but I would be concerned that the rubber elbows will colapse from the vacuum of the intake draw. Give 'er a test run first with the tank off and convice yourself that the elbows will stay in shape at WOT.

This has been done before. Good catch though!

...I did a search, but couldn't find the post. Sounds like a good time to resurrect it!

    Re: Mods to Barons VBak

I have run the bike, with the tank off and there is no problem with the tubes collapsing, and I did try it up to 4500 rpm. These tubes are thick rubber and there is very little resistance from the filters so no great suction on the elbows.
I do however have a lot of problems trying to work out how to upload pics onto this site, it does not seem to matter how small I make the pics or what programme I open them in, they are still refused when I try to upload.I have searched the forum but there does not seem to be an obvious way of saving the pics for upload. Any advise would be appreciated, It took me less time to do the mod than I spent last night trying to upload the pics

Peter, I had trouble also. If your on a "Mac" I found a perfect and very easy site call Dropic and its a free down load. I looked for the original site but can't find it now. But just search "resize photos mac" and you should find it.

I have the same problem with photos. What's the secret?

There is no secret to it, just has to be under 97 kb and a jpeg, if not it will not post. I use photoshop to change mine, but there is a bunch of different ways to do it.

This was an awesome post to find! I pulled out the 90's from the stock airbox, and I'm gonna install them this week.

Does anyone know if there is any other difference between the baron's BAK and the VBAK?
