Alan, how did you stretch them? I know you were thinking about different ways of doing it.

Awesome Job....How much would it take to get a set of those plates made.

I need to install my 1000# spring, I can get the threaded rod.
    Rides:
2003 Suzuki Volusia 800 (too small, sold)
2005 Yamaha Road Star Warrior 1700 (Awesome - medical reason forced sale
(Unfortunate, Unscheduled, Car Induced, Violent Bicycle Dismount)clicky details)
2006 Suzuki VStrom 1000 (GREAT deal forced trade)
2007 Yamaha FJR AE 1300 (FJR: Freakin Japanese Rocket)

If talking politics is out, how am I going to find out who the Idiots are?

So many beers.....so little human blood volume.

Just because you aren't paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get you.

Ken, during the Xmas Holiday we had some idle machine time at work so i had the laser Operator run these through while machining 1/4" plate.
I'm not in a position to duplicate these parts for sale [xx(]
Would be happy to let you borrow them with or without the threaded rod and fasteners. All i ask is you cover the shipping [:)]

My guess would be 1/4" to 3/8". That would yeild 1-1.5" lower at the rear tire.

Frank, according to the shop that modified my stock links, +3/16" stretch yields 1" approx drop to stock bike.
I suspect 3/8" would be maximum based on other parameters, such as tire size, spring setting, gross weight etcetera.

Re: Lowering Rear via Stretched Links/Dog Bones

Alan you will like that new setup. I also made a set of 1" lowering links for mine, added barons 930 spring and it works great. I too am running the G850 out back and am really happy with traction and it seems to be holding up way better than the 220 dunlop did.

Hey telerider... the suspension has 4.3 inches of travel in the rear. If you stretch the bones 3/8", you move the tire 2" closer to the fender, but you still have 4+ inches of travel. I'll bet it's gonna hit.

Harley, from my experience the rear tire doesn't have to come off to do it. But I will tell you that I've taken shocks out of Warriors about 10 times now, and I'll never do it again with the tire still on. With the tire off, you can just pull the shock and dog bones straight out the rear of the bike.

Re: Lowering Rear via Stretched Links/Dog Bones

I cut, extend, and brace them back together for 50.00. I have built a Jig to hold them and TIG weld them back. I can do any length you would like. I just did one last week sretched it 3/4 inch dropped the bike 2.5 inches. Looks bad ass but it bottoms out at high speed bumps.
