Possiblity of True Dual Velocity Stack....

I got a question, do you think it would serve any purpose to run my intake tubing down to my dual velocity stack cover. Other than making them functional... Do you think my hp would stay the same with my v-bak??

Here is the room I have to work with, do you think I can run the pipe properly to still have the proper air flow??

I like the idea but I would think the series of bends required and any concessions made to get the tubing to fit would restrict the air intake. Don't take my word for it though I'm just making a guess.

Or do you think if i had a small aluminum air box then just have the two stacks feed into that then the throttle bodies would share the same air? I don't know just babbling..

That would also solve having a vent tube running down to my rear tire and feed it back into the intake, like stock...

Re: Possiblity of True Dual Velocity Stack....

I was thinking about running some 90 degree silicone couplers for piping into the back side of the velocity stacks. I would then cut it to merge it into one piece by gluing it together some how to feed air under the tank.

    Something like this

I would think that a 2-2 system would be the way to go. that way you could maximise/even out airflow to the cylinders. How would you filter the system though?

I think those silicone connectors would work out great, but they would need to be 2" dia. not 3"

For filtering I think I would put a screen in the back and put oiled uni filter foam in the stack then put a screen on the end to hold it in there.

    Bucky,
Wood Churchkey would be the best source of research/discussion on this.
My understanding from talking to him recently about VSTACKS (there are tons of threads on this as well in general) is that the lenght, shape and diameter of the stack directly impacts the power range. Something about LOW to MID power band and tourque, vrs. mid to high. You'll probably need to decide where you wan the power most. High end....or low end...My guess is woody's design is probably aimed at the middle of the road towards the mid/low..but just my guess on that.

what you are talking about is more about the length of runners AFTER the throttle body. the length/size of the piping getting it to the TB is not near as important.

I could be wrong but it sounds like you would be going backwords by going back to the air box.You would still have turbulant air flow going to the throttle bodies unlike smoth clean air with a v-back.

Basics.... the farther it's got to suck, the more restriction you've got. Smaller air filtration area also = more restriction AND shortened usable filter life which = more frequent servicing. All of which means less air to the engine. Mostly negatives IMHO.

I understand your desire to make them REAL. They look nice, but kinda like a fake blower bolted to the hood of your car[:D]
