    Fender mounted bullets

I was wondering if anyone that had the Kurykan led bullets mounted to their fender did anything special to drill out the holes? Did you lay masking tape over the spot before drilling or just straight drill through the fender?

Also after the hole is cut did you do anything to cover the bare metal you just made? Maybe spray paint the inside of the hole to prevent corrosion of the fender?

Thanks for any info, it's really appreciated!

as with drilling any painted surface you dont want damaged you should cover it up good with tape, mark and center punch your holes , and drill with a sharp bit. you may even want to use one of those "step" bits. after you get the hole drilled touch up the bare metal with some touch up primer and paint or even a little dab of silicone will help keep the rust away. good luck with your mod [:)]

Before you drill you might want to check these out. I was going to drill my fender as well. I'm glad I found these before I did it. It looks good and no drilling. I'll post a pick in my gallery for you.

Just wanted to tell you about the load equalizer. You need it so the blinkers dont blink fast. This is the set up that I installed and it's a piece of cake. I'm glad I did'nt drill my fender because I'm thinking about moving them again.

Drill holes through your fender? Why the heck would you do that? Rif was right on with the reference to Kuryakyn. Use those in place of the fender stay bolts, run your wires through and under the subfender, and you're pretty much done. Kuryakyn has load equalizers. You do need a module that will convert your rear turn signals into run-turn-brake lights.

I found the Kuryakyn 4807 good for nothing [:(]

    Re: Fender mounted bullets

I just checked my records and I used the 4807. I could be wrong but I think if you use the 4810 you need to use two of them verses the one 4807? I've got one 4807 working my rear set of blinkers. Maybee I'm putting too much load on them? They've been working for about 4 months now.

    Idea [I] LEQ Kuryakyn 4807 & 4810

Rif... here is my personal experience with 2 Kuryakyn 4807's but if yours works fine that's great [;)]

Taken from this recent post - Decompression Solenoid Failure:http://www.rswarrior.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=54312

warpack....The Kuryakyn 4807 although advertised as 4 amp load equalizer resisitor (LEQ) is actually only 1.5 amp load [:0] [:(] and is good for nothing IMO!

The 2 amp Kuryakyn 4810 draws 2.05 amp and will correct only 1 pair of signal lights to the factory blink rate. If running LED's frt & rear you'll need 2 Kuryakyn 4810 wired in parallel.

I recently went full LED's and substituted the existing 2 amp 4810 LEQ with the 4 amp Kuryakyn 4807. It was at that time i discovered it was useless!

Here's a single line schematic that i sent to Kuryakyn Technical support that has gone unanswered [:(!]

    Re: Fender mounted bullets

Just my input on this. Get the Kury red led harley twin element set, and grab a set of metric adapters. I have mine wired up as running lights, and turn signals -- mounted in the fender location as well.

    Re: Fender mounted bullets

Here is a link to the RTB contoller i used on my 07.http://www.kuryakyn.com/products.asp?bn=metric&ci=2967 Ran with 2 circuitboard style silver bullets with no ill affects. The load equalizer plugs directly in to the RTB.

As far as mounting the silverbullets that depends on taste. I drilled mine thru the fender about 6" ahead of the rear.(I prefer the lights near the rear)I also use the Custom World backrest when I ride 2 up and need to mount that to the fender struts.

Here is my post from when I did the installhttp://www.rswarrior.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=56936&SearchTerms=Kuryakyn,Run-turn-brake,controller

    I hope this helps[:D]
