ISR Front Calipers

Seeing that I only have one and that one is in need of rebuilding (seals alone are $100) I was thinking about trying one of these......

Cycle Image has them for $1000 a pair but if I can find one for say $400 or so I may pull the trigger.

Do you all think it will improve the braking that much??

Based on this info the stock Warrior MC @ 14mm is fine. I would suspect that you would have to use the full floating rotor to take advantage of the technology and size. Also, each set of pistons have their own set of pads and you'll need but a single brake line.
A smaller bore MC will increase the brake forces [

Area comparison only of 1-ISR caliper against 2-Stock calipers

I suspect that it will still stop better than a HD Softail [

I definitely recomend them. I have had them on all season and I'm very satisfied with the performance. But please keep in mind that as they are very biased towards racing the are a bit noisy and rattles somewhat. I guess due to them beeing fully floating. Also note that rezas bike has the older version, fully floating, and micke and I have a later version with more "studs" holding the rotor to the center. We also had ISR make matching rotors to replace the stock one. Well check my gallery

Maybe it's just me, but from my POV why would I want more stopping power when I can already easily lock up the front tire?? Then again, I have been labeled as "gorilla grip".[

Would this somehow increase the stopping power before the point of lock up due to the extra surface contact? Sorry for the seemingly ignorant questions, I just seem to be happy with the stock hardware..........for now.[

It's not just more stopping power, it's also an improved feel in the grip= better control. If it rains you need to dry the brakes from time o time, otherwise you have "brakelag" But perhaps that is a minor problem in TX and CA

Totally agree with Silverback. Go with ISR's new semifloating rotors and 6-calipers.
They're offensively expensive, offer unbeatable performance, that hightech racelook, weightsavings, i.e all the important ingredienses...[

The only reason I'm thinking about it is because I only have one stock front caliper now and the front braking peformance sucks. The mounting points for the right caliper were cut off and smoothed out. The caliper is leaking a bit from time to time and it's going to cost $100 to rebuild it and who knows how long it will last, the caliper has been chromed and I'm told it is a common problem with chromed calipers.

Any place in particular I should look for one and a set of pads??
They will work with the stock rotor right??

Actually the 6 piston calipers are for a 320mm rotor, It's a replacement set for early R1 brakes. But there is a ISR 4 piston caliper that fits the stock 298 rotor, also very good looking. However as you have only one you might want to change the master cylinder as well. And perhaps already should have done that.

By the way as you use only one rotor - I definitely recommend the 320mm rotor- 6 piston caliper combo.

11mm or 12mmm Bore if you are using the 1-stock Warrior caliper. The smaller bore will give you more hydraulic pressure and better braking.
