For anyone considering a DIY BAK

Do not throw away the silencer box. You can reuse the ‘elbows#%92 connected to the throttle bodies to complete your BAK setup. They can be removed with a little elbow grease; no cutting is required to separate them from the silencer. Once removed you will notice that one of the elbows has a hose connector, plug it using a standard automotive hose plug. Next, cut off the raised ring from the ends of each elbow. This needs to be done in order to insert it into the filter body. Now clean the elbows, the filter bodies, & the throttle bodies with carb cleaner.

Use the plugged elbow as the rear facing stack, attach the filter and adjust the placement before securing with a hose clamp. Repeat.

Works great so far and quieter too compared to the metal elbows I was using before. I decided to try something new since I had trouble with clearance. I could not find an angle that let me keep the metal elbow seated on the throttle body and clear the tank and the relocation plate. After taking everything thing apart I also noticed that the rubber hose used to secure the metal elbow to the throttle body had swollen and deformed in the gap where it was unseated. I#%92m not an expert but considering the measurable difference such imperfections play on air flow I would not be surprised if this ‘cheap#%92 solution works better in the long run.

Its to bad you have to cut the larg end thats the velocity stack part it helps increase the velocity of the air.there was no way to get the filters on with out cuting the mouth of the stack?

Tried to keep the ringed ends but the I could not get them into the filter bodies. The other problem is that it would need to be pushed through the entire filter body or the large end would just restrict air intake. Once cut you can 'port' the opening.
