You don't have to Lengthen anything just cut a little of the tape off the wire harness to give yourself about two more inches of play. Its tight but it works

just did mines last week...unwrap the wiring harness like mentioned above...the only thing that'll need lengthing is one of the vacuum hose.
You have your way. I have my way. As for the right way, the correct way, and the only way, it does not exist.

    Re: Coil relocate question

When I did the coil relocate mod I thought I got in over head with moving wiring, hoses and remounting everything. But when it was done and I had a pile of garbage that I took off the bike and it ran the same and looked so much cleaner.

+1 on the wiring question, no problem just retape nice and neat after you get the extra wire you need out of the harness.

    Re: Coil relocate question

With Churchkey's VBAK i found it necessary to unwrap approx 6"-8" of the harness for rerouting of the coil primary, LCV cable and sensor wires. This was the most difficult part of the mod IMO and takes some vision, so take your time and do it correctly when you rewrap the wires so that they hug the upper portion of the frame.

I turned the No. 1 cyl coil (left) 180 deg so that the secondary (plug) wires face the rear and also removed the metal Tee hangar that was tapped to the harness and attached to the coil mounting bracket.

Also, removed approx 4" of the heavy hose sleeving for the No. 1 cyl left side plug wire in lieu of cutting. This allowed me to loop (hairpin bend) the wire and reattach it as originally routed along the frame.

If interested, i have a bunch of photos stored in my Yahoo homepage folder, Coil & Sensor Relocation Plate

You will also want to clean up the vent lines on the left side down tubes while at it [;)]

It looks pretty easy, the BAK was cake since I had pulled airbox out for a plug install at a earlier time.

It's not to terrible, just time consuming. Attach all the sensors and lcv on the plate before mounting it on the bike.. Also I shortened my spark plug wire that go to the rear cylinder to tidey it up a little bit that way there wasn't about a foot of extra wire..

Other than that mark all connections, and stay organized when doing it.
