    Brake Lever Adjustment - Advice.

I just got the Yami mini foot boards (wow - are those things nice and comfy).

I adjusted my shift lever up so that my foot will sit flat on the foot board and still go under the shift lever. That was simple and effective.

Now I'm wondering if I can do that same with the rear brake lever. The lever is right in the way so that the toe of my boot hits it with my foot on the board (I can tilt my foot out, but it's not as comfortable).

The question is... Does anybody know if the brake lever is a splined shaft setup like the shift lever? And can it be adjusted for height easily? This would obviously be a bit more complicated since it looks like I'd have to take the foot peg bracket off then the brake lever along with the adjusting the spring tension, brake itself and the brake light indicator.

Before I start tearing into all this stuff I was wondering if anybody else had done it, or if you have another solution to getting my fat foot to sit under the brake lever and flat on the foot board I'd like to hear that as well.

I basically need to the brake lever peg to be about 1 inch higher.

I was looking at doing the same thing and came to the conclusion that the brake is not adjustable. Let me know if you find out different.

The brake lever is not splined! It rotates on a brass bushing.

The brake pedal pushrod has some limited adjustment @ the master cylinder (MC) and doesn't require removal of any parts.

You must use caution when making this adjustment. Lengthening the pushrod will increase the pedal height but be sure that the pedal lever doesn't touch the exhaust pipe and indirectly cause the pushrod to collapse the MC piston! Also, be sure that there is enough threads in engagement when done.

As you stated, adjustment of the stop light switch should be checked.

The Owners's Manual has instructions that clearify the above [;)]

From the exploded view on the Yami website (parts) it doesn't seem so. However the '03 (for example) is different than the '07.

Alan is 100% correct, as usual, you can adjust the pedal, just do so carefully. Besides moving it up you can also move it down, just make certain the pedal isn't touching the peg bracket prior to full depression.

AlanH - Thank you very much! It took about 2 minutes to get it right where I wanted it. I guess just by looking at it I wouldn't have gues that the threaded piece turned inside the brake MC, but all I had to do was loosen the lock nut and turn the threaded piece and watch the brake lever move up and down.

You were also right on about watching the clearance with the pipe and making sure there are enough thred left in the extension.

    I'm so glad I asked.

    Thank you again,

Jamie, I had the same problem with the brake and my rather large feet....it's a bit higher now but I still need more room, unfortunately there isn't that much adjustment in the rod!

Where are you at in Canada, BTW? You're not another of the Alberta Warriors, are you? Ft. McMurray, Albert here....ride safe and fast!

I second that. Except for the lower cowl, my poor bike would probably be stock without it. Of course I would rather have a stock Warrior than a custom Harley.

Re: Brake Lever Adjustment - Advice.

One other quick note... If you make this adjustment you might have to adjust the switch that turns on the brake light when you use the rear brake.

I was doing the rear fender cleanup last night and decided I should check all the electical connections before I reinstalled everything. I Hit the front brake and the light came on, then I hit the rear brake and NO LIGHT! I'm thinking, now how the heck did I screw this up?!? After a minute I found out it was because the switch was out of adjustment from making this adjustment the night before. [:p]

    Thanks,
