flapping tail assy making me nervous...

okay so.. i know that the vibration causes the tail section on these bikes to vibrate a little.. i have the fender eliminator kit on and after i put the ca alternatives taillight in it flaps in the breeze like you wouldnt believe... im afraid its gonna fall off... it flaps so much that i can hear it rattle very loudly whenever i go over a bump... does anyone have any suggestions? i think i may have forgotten a bolt or something but i couldve sworn i put em all back in... im at a loss... thanks in advance...

Do you have any pictures of your assembly?

You have assembled something wrong. Take it back off and do it again

4 bolts hold the rear fender to the frame. If it is tight to the frame on both sides, I would look at the installation...

Larry, It doesn't sound right all the rattling. Try to take it apart and do what you havever is neccessary to anchor that kit better. You may need to add some hardware.

I have the same problem. I just bought a clear alternatives tail light and it didnt last two rides. and it started falling apart internally and stopped working. I dont know if something was wrong with the light to start with or not but I put the factory light back on and it worked fine. I have another CA light on order. My fender eliminator is made by 2W industries. But I dont know if they are in buisness anymore, but in going to add some metal to it cause it only bolts to the fender in two areas)at the roof of the fender)is shakes up a storm though.

maybe you forgot the rubber-washers on the taillight? should rattle like hell then.
can you move it by hand or does it only rattle by vibration?
Life may be hard but the alternative sucks!

I would guess that you did not use the Sleeved Washers that came off the factory light assy, there are two on the side brackets and two on the upper brackets, also the original Light is fixed with three rubber grommets which also have sleeved washers. I would check it all again

Even if the sleeved washers are missing I don't think that would explain 4" of play...something is way off.

There are (3) rubber isolation bushings w/stand-offs for the tailight assy and (4) mounting holes to the rear inside fender.

The OAL length of the side mounting bolts are very very critical else you will dimple the fender if not using the Yami kit [:0] [:(]

I have the same problem as cogburn, my tailight has about 2-3" of play but I know its because I missed out on some screws upon installation. I would take it apart and recheck thats what i am going to do, hope this helps.
