Tool for transfer case oil fill hole? without mar

Hello, I am getting ready to do my 600 mile service and I have a few questions. I have found by searching how to change the oil, and the transfer case oil.

Question #1 What is everyone useing to remove and reinstall the transfer case oil fill plug, without marking it up??

Question #2 For the trans on this site is says to use .42qt of oil, to me that is 13.5ounces correct??

Question #3 For the trans it says to use 80 w hypoid gear oil, I have Suzuki 80-90W hypoid gear oil. Is this acceptable??

Thanks in advance for everyones help, this is a great site. Joel

question 1 - I have yet to succeed to remove the plug without marring it up some, some folks use a big flat washer and vise grips...

question 2 - I put in 1 pint, half a quart, or 16oz...no problems, its just a chain and 2 gears, if it is overfilled, it will just blow some out of the transfer case vent, (first time i changed it, i overfilled it)

question 3 - yes, it should work, I use Mobil 1 75w90 full synthetic

Suzuki 80w-90 hypoid gear oil is fine. I use Valvoline 80w-90 Cake and change out evry season.

Yes, .42qt is 13.5oz ... there is a small sight/full hole adjacent to the fill port. Be sure your bike is level when you do the change. No need to overfill.

Doesn't one of the wrenches supplied with the OEM tool kit have a specially shaped end for the purpose? I haven't removed mine, but I figured Yamaha would include something like that....I'm going to check my pouch now!!

I think some of the guys have fabbed a special tool for that. Something like a half a washer welded on a shaft.

I taped off the cap and exhaust, then used a long bolt with a large, flat head to remove the cap. It was tedious but effective.

I used a quarter with the ridge on the edge filed smooth wrapped in an old t-S$%^ and a pair of vice grips.

Side of a Spanner wrench that I use on some gears at work. It fits the slot like it was made for it.

I checked the tool pouch when I did the new lines and found nothing that would work. Thought the shock-adjuster tool would fit the slot, but it was too thick.
