FPR relocate question on fuel lines

Guys, Regarding the relocation/cleanup of the left side. Some of us (me included) have basicaly "flipped" the FPR fuel line that goes from the FPR to the ??throttle body.
Lets see, one side or line comes in from the reserve tank/fule pump correct, and goes out to ? the front throttle body.

So, I am assuming I can swap out the fuel lines with a longer piece of hose for relocation purposes.

The reason I bring this up is the OEM fuel pipe isn't long enough to get the FPR OFF the top valve cover and it worries me about "HEAT" ??

Anyone have their FPR sitting on the jug head?? should I be concerned? whats the size of those fuel lines?

I just went out and got some (I want to say it was) 3/8 hose for fuel injection systems. I switched both sides of the line, and zip-tied along with a piece of rubber to the frame.

First part is that the FPR is the exit side of the throttle bodies, The actual fuel supply goes in on the other side of the motor. So the line from FPR to reserve tank is basically a low presure line.

Yes you can get a longer piece of line to go from the TB to the FPR. Get 5/16 ID fuel injection line and the appropriate size Fuel injection clamps and make it as long as you need, That will get it off the valve cover no problem. The factory line is a 2 piece line with ribber line on the outside and a plastic line on the inside but with a razor blade you can carefully cut it off.

SO, tell me, the OEM fuel line is small stuff. Like you said 5/16" ID right....is it a 3/8 OD ?? I'm gonna bring the FPR with me to the store anyway to match it up but just thought I'd ask.

As Dragin stated the FPR (Fuel Pressure Regulator) is fed from the fuel manifold block maintaining pressure at the injectors and the return to the aux fuel tank is low pressure Cake

Hose is measured by I.D. and you should use 5/16" Fuel Injection hose because of the pressure. I would also suggest that you use F.I. hose clamps. NAPA carries the hose and clamps. F.I. hose clamps have radiused edges and is a nice touch if available.

So Alan!, your FPR, is it suspended? or zipped up off the valve cover and you accomplished this by running a short length of the 5/16" FI rated hose , (longer than the stock piece) so you could get it up to the frame for zipping into place?

You can can carefully remove the stock line from the ends and attach the new FI line to them so they clip back on the fittings same as stock. I relocated mine on the other side of the engine mounted to the frame way out of the way.

Ah...gotcha guysm, thanks for the input. Need to make a trip to the auto parts store. Will post up after the relocate.

I just did the relocate and was able to use the stock fuel line. I just rotated the ends alittle until I got the FPR up and over the rear valve cover. its a tight fit but it worked fine. Although there is some heat there shouldn't be excessive heat comming off the valve cover, most of the heat is dissapated from the fins. can't see how it would hurt anything while all that other stuff, coils, sensors,(if relocated) is under there....

What I would like to know is, has any one replaced the FPR with a different one that is smaller & straight?? If so where did they get it and what are the specs?
