    Clutch cover and alt cover

I just got in some new chrome covers from Performance Edge and attempted to install them. Well I'm not sure if it#%92s me or what, but they won#%92t come off. Can anyone tell me what I need to do to get these off and replaced with the chrome ones? Is it going to leak oil all over the place when I take them off?

    Thanks much

If you are talking about the 2 that say YAMAHA on them you will not have to wory about oil draining. I just replaced mine. The left side alternator cover is on there good. I took a pry bar with a towel over it and pried it at the little tab. Be careful on the left side also with the two phillips head screws. they are loctited in there(red). I almost stripped one of them. Use some heat on it to soften it up. Hope this helps.

There are rubber vibration dampeners under them that cause them to stick on there pretty good.

Yup, the the rubbers dampers cause them both to stick to the engine case
Use a small slotted screw driver (tape or wrap the blade) on the clutch cover prying very lightly between the case and cover. The alt cover can be pried from the bottom around the kickstand. This cover has (2) solid dowel pins for aligment to the case, so pry evenly [;)] Can also use a plastic tipped hammer as a means of loosening the cover

Holy crap, I finally got them installed. What a PITA! Oh and installed some new mirrors too. That was a major PITA! I was cursing the damn time! What a stupid freaking design Yamaha has for their mirror mounts.
