Update on cut out problem @ 3000RPM

My darn bike is cutting out when it hits 3000 rpm and it doesn't matter what gear or speed I#%92m in. Well I am going to change out the CPS for a new one and I hope that will fix this problem. Wish me luck!

I think I asked you before but can't remember: Do you have a PCIII and if so did you do the Perfect PCIII install?
A loose TPS wire would do just that.

Yes I do have a PCIII and I disconnected it and the problem is still there. There are no codes that come up. The new PCIII are cake walk to hook up, You don't need to cut any wires.

My brothers 05 did that exact same thing and it turned out to ba a broken wire on his crankshaft posistion sensor. The break was where the wire comes from the sensor. The sensor had to be replaced, and all is well again.

Okay I have been trying to locate the crankshaft position sensor but I can#%92t seem to find it. Does anyone know where it is?

    Terminatr,

This is no NEW PCIII. Its just the regular PCIII USB as described in the Perfect PCIII Install (do a search). You should really consider doing it or have someone do it for you that single grey wire that uses a press on connector for the yellow TPS signal is in part your problem. That press on connector can damage the yelow wire (TPS) and causes the bike to miss fire at certain rpms. You might have to cut out that section of the TPS wire and solder/shrink tube it back together to fix the problem.
As for the rest I would bet that once you fix the TPS wire and do the Perfect PCIII Install the cutouts will be gone.
Several of us had the same issues and it was in part the reason why I came up with a more permanent form of installing the PCIII on the Warrior.

Ok this is what i don't get, why would it work for over six months and then decide to start giving me problems? Is that normal for these PCIII?

I will have to hook up the PCIII when i get home from work. It would be nice if that was the problem. Hey Oliver would it still cut out even if i removed the PCIII ?

If the yellow wire (TPS) is damaged it will not make a differance hooked up or not..

if it is just a crimp style connection, some corrosion may have formed and damaged the wire, so unless it is soldered and sealed, corrosion can and will form and damge the wire.

Ok just got done doing the PCIII install and I still have the same problem. I cut the yellow wire where the connector was and soldered it back together. It still cuts out at 3000 RPM. If the problem was a sensor I would be getting a code of some kind right ?

It seems like I've seen more than one '05 with the crank position sensors going tits up. Could be the problem... And "no" you wouldn't necessarily get an error.

Mine was doing the same thing. No codes and nearly always at or near 3000rpm.
I cleaned the neg. battery terminal and wire.Checked all the connections under the seat, and cleaned the coil wire connections.Ever since it has been OK.I don't know which helped 'cause I did 'em all at the same time.
Now I need to fix the wacky speedo.

Always something [:)] thanks for your input and I will go try that right now. I tested the CPS and that seems to test right but you never know.

Did you relocate your coils when you did the BAK. riverat had a very similar issue when we went to Stardays and it turned out it was a loose ingition wire. Once you pull to hard on them (e.g. they are rather short when you relocate them, it might cause a similar problem.

Don't you hate these hit and run problems? [;)]
