    Yamaha Fender Eliminator

Just purchased the Yamaha inner fender elminator kit, as it came highly recommended. I'm a Michigan rider, so I'm "collecting" a few items to modify the machine as soon as the weather breaks. Regarding the fender eliminator kit... it appears that there is the option to not install the lower bracket, resulting in eliminating the plate light and reflectors. The instructions do not hint to this possibility (probably legal liability), but it appears that's an option. Is this how some of you have installed the kit?

Is there a "recommended" way to dead-end the wires to the plate light in order to not install/relocate it?

Dunno- I used my stock plate light because I didnt want to deal with installing a load equalizer or have loose end wires.

I cut my fender down and dead ended the wires for the plate light, taped them up and have not noticed any problems yet.

I didn't use it, check my gallery (Wait, didn't I "Highly recommend it" to you?) [;)]

Good job on the purchase...it's a great kit. I think the brake light lights it up enough for the cops to leave you alone...I've been followed by several and they haven't cared yet.

I just taped the wires up really good and tucked them up under the fender.

(Yeah, it can be done for free but I think the kit is cheap and you don't have to worry about any sloppy cutting.)

i think thats a waste of money dude.

with a couple beers, a motorcycle jack and a dremel style tool, you can eliminate the fender yourself... and even retain the stock light if you wish.

i chopped every last piece of plastic off and integrated the sigs into the brake light

Just tape back BLK & BLUE wires to fender loom and tape open ends to protect from dirt.
Check my gallery photos for license plate light @ night:http://www.rswarrior.com/Gallery/AlanH.aspx
    Purchased part from:http://www.cruisercustomizing.com/detail.cfm?model_ID=0&Category_ID=110&manufacturer_ID=141&product_ID=6915&related=short
BTW, absolutely no precautions or concerns if license light is not used.

I chopped the plastic flap and rode it like that for a while, but I always thought the eliminator kit looked better because it tucks the sigs in a little closer.A few weeks back I bought the Yamaha kit and put it on.Now I know it looks better. As far as your bracket breaking,DFW,exactly where and how?The piece looks to be pretty strong.

If you haven't opened it yet, try to return it or sell it on ebay. Get the integrated turn signal tail light and a hack saw. Check out my gallery. I'm no mod king but it was easy to install. 3 beers and 45 minutes later....

I just installed the Yammi fender elim last night. It is worth the money IMHO. I like the way it tucks the signals in and the rear look is awesome. I left out the "other" part also. I cant be more satisfied. Great look and worth the money!

    Re: Yamaha Fender Eliminator

I bought the Yamaha eliminator kit and liked the end results also. For the license plate light I went to www.yearwoodcustom.com. They sell stainless steel bolts that have a notch cut in them with an led bulb inside. Two on top of the plate to illuminate the plate and 2 none leds on the bottom to match. Ran the stock wires to the bolts. Worked great. Check out my gallery pics. [8D]

Got the Yamaha kit installed last night, very nice. Looks clean and professional, no hack job here. Since I bought the kit for $30 at a local dealer, to me it's jing well spent. Thanks for the info to all that replied.
