remove the fuel tank and speed* airbox on the right side

remove the screw securing the front of the black plastic airbox under the tank

pull the front of the airbox under the tank up high enough to get a socket on the sparkplug

you may need to loosen the screws securing the rubber boot to the throttle bodies below
placing a swivel on the spark plug socket will be helpful

Much easier to just pull the entire engine. That gives you a nice clean shot at the plug!

get rid of that airbox and install some pod filter, vbak, prbak, barons bak..... anything. Makes maintenance much easier.

    Re: Spark Plug-Right Front

Dave & Chris, thanks for the helpful information. I ended up removing the stock air box to get at the plug and to use my torque wrench for the install of the NGK Iridium plugs!
OldMan, you're probably correct, it's easier to pull the engine.
Spent most of my day doing the task when i thought it would only take a couple of hours. The air box and sensors are not maintenance friendly. Wonder what the dealer gets to R&R plugs. They probably do three!

At this point it is worth doing the BAK for performance and ease of access the plugs.

You'll never drop any little screws into the throttle bodies with that tape over them. You're possibly depriving us of a good laugh at your expense unless maybe you put it back together and forget to remove the tape![:D]

I think I used the plug wrench out of the wife's VStar kit to get that plug out.  Not real fast, but not a mightmare either.
