Re: Belt Adjustment with V&H Bigshots

I think I started that last post on the topic... I still haven't had one of those tools made. I ended up taking the pipes off like most people suggested. Most everyone said that counting the number of turns or painting the top of the bolt wouldn't work. They were right. The bolt never seems to end in the same place after I torque it.

I like the way your torque extender looks, AlanH. It looks like it would be easier to handle since it's all flat. If you ever decide to make any to sell, I'd probably purchase one.

I ended up making what AlanH made. Works fine.

I don't have the tools (or the skills...) to make something like that... AlanH hasn't posted anything back to me, so if you ever decide to make a few extra, please let me know.

Re: Belt Adjustment with V&H Bigshots

ewells, the parts for my spindle nut tool were fabricated from two pieces of 1/4" Cold Rolled Steel that was cut to shape with a CNC Laser machine and then welded together for additional strength at the nut area. The Laser machine time is closely controlled/observed where i work so it's not likely that i will be able to fab additional parts for others.
    I basically duplicated Harley-Jones tool with Laser components @ 5" centerline & 1/2" drive.

You could have a muffler or welding shop duplicate his tool exactly or you could substitude the socket with a hex nut to keep the profile thinner at the tool. Hope this helps you out as another alternative.

KIRBY thanks for your posting & the fine idea!
