    Attention Corbin Stiletto/Stinger Seat Owners!

I have noticed on quite a few used Stiletto seats that there is a wear/stress mark on the left side of the seat near the front nose. Has anyone else noticed this? Perhaps the design lends itself to put the riders weight closer to the front and the narrow/pointed nose of the Stilleto seat bends under the weight?
You can definitely see the stress line mark on the leather, but will the seat pan or anything else hold up long term? [?]

Or maybe they're just not build for the fat azzes like yours?! [:D][:D] ... alright, alright, just kidding, Thom! Just messing with you! I know you're not fat! ... and you don't even have a Stiletto seat!

But I'm just surprised how much attention pay to these little things.... I haven't noticed that on my seat... or any others... but maybe I just haven't looked good enough...

Dude, I noticed it on yours too. You better go take a look...I think it's due to the design. It's designed such that the front nose on the Stiletto (which is so narrow) curves up like a potato chip and puts the weight of the rider right on the narrow part of the nose against the tank...
I have seen two like that in person and there are some more in pics from other Stiletto seats...

I have had mine for a year and have noticed no wear on the nose.

mdfdwarrior ... not to Hi-Jack your Topic but the problem also exists w/the Corbin Stinger and it will eventually damage the paint finish of the tank [:(]
Here's what i did to prevent future damage! You could relabel the Topic to include the Stinger [;)]

TOP Photo: Top view of Neoprene rubber stoppers cemented into Corbin bumpers at nose of seat.
CENTER Photo: Side view showing projection of Neoprene rubber stoppers cemented into Corbin bumpers at nose of seat.

Finger print of the Neoprene stoppers on tank bracket. Notice in the center the faint shadow from the OEM '04' seat!
Before adding the 2-stoppers the Corbin bumpers were useless [V]

Yup, my 2000 mile trip to the '06' Dragon event revealed considerable scarring to my brand new Doug Keims custom paint job upon removal of the seat for an oil change [:0] [B)] [:(] [V]

Being concerned about eventually stressing the tank and causing cracking, like the earlier models, i decided to distribute the load to the bracket as did Yamaha.

I have shared this info, not in as much detail, early on in another's post when discussing aftermarket seats and cracked gas tanks!

Re: Attention Corbin Stiletto/Stinger Seat Owners!

I had the same problem with a Corbin Gunfighter on my 1400 Intruder. One of the pop rivets severely damaged my tank.
When I ordered my Stinger I had Corbin cover the rivets, but I like what Alan has done also. I'll probably add the rubber stoppers as well.

    Thanks Alan!
    God first . . . . . . . . always!

Saw that on my old tins. Installed 3M paint shield on new paint. Poor design, good looks, normal Corbin. [8D]

A week after I installed the stiletto, I noticed some wear too. I got some clear Palm Pilot screen covers and cut and placed them on the tank...so far so good.

Great tip, I know the mustang is made different, but now I will have to check it as well.

Just my .02 but the OEM seat was designed so that the bumpers applied pressure to the tank bracket or fender, NOT THE TANK.

If your gas tank should develop a crack in the future you might want to consider this Topic [;)]
