Got the UK info.  Since no other USA info has been posted I'll show the only info I received - 2004 as a change-over year with some bikes having older bulbs, some newer.  Sorry no better USA info was brought up.

Re: Model Year Differences 2002-2009 (Update Marker)

    jarv:

Mine is a "grey import" 06 and as well all know, before it could be sold in the UK the dealer had to complete a set of  various"mods".

Mine has the blue wiring for the turn signal running lights - which are illegal in the UK - so the dealer had to pull the connections and replace the bulbs to single filament type. My question to Gav and Tom is..... do you still have the blue wires or did Yamaha (attention to detail) completely do away with them for the UK models?

Sorry to detract from the thread slightly - - just wondered. I also bought a headlight from a US member recently ...and I now need to drill a hole for a pilot bulb which obviously doesn't exist in the US version. The official UK model had one as standard.

    -

jarv -just got thru checking the uk version of 'colditz' for those licence plate bulbs here....sheesh...will post pics shortly...that was horribley fiddly...this 'er pilot light up front...don't have one in the headlamp mate!!?...just the main headlight bulb..no other bulbs lurking!!??....must now go and look for a blue wire...lol    cheers tom -

oh yes running lights illegal...hmmm...must find out as we don't have any lights up front but the headlight during daylight and the tail light ....hmmm

    -  yup got a blue unused ending in the headlamp unit....jools reckon it could run running lights up front

For UK guys - this is the set of bulbs required for the 2003 model [2004 reg] bikes with uk incadencent tail light unit instead of LED unit

Headlight H4 - standard unit is 60/55w - but AzW and Gav and others have run H4 100/80w succesfully - they come in Rally blue - Ultra blue which are marked on the the packet 'for off road' only!!?? - I bought the pictured H4 in Halfords for £12.99

The orange indicator bulbs bayonet fit - are marked PY 21w [orange] for clear lenses and P 21w [clear] for orange lenses x4

stop/tail bulb - bayonet fit - are marked P21/5w [clear] - [short filament goes top to fit] x1

licence plate lights - 5w [wedge end fitting] halfords no. 501HD for heavy duty shock resistant version x2 - will post how to access them in next post!!

Re: Model Year Differences 2002-2009 (Update Marker)

To access the rear licence plate bulbs here in the UK model 2003 [reg 2004] is a ruddy nightmare

tools!! - 8mm socket for inside fender nuts [watch for rubber spacers!! behind them]

housing drops forward 10mm!! - ruddy wireing loom too short....so now need open 8mm, to undo each brass nut under rubber plate a bit at a time, to get the threads to come out of the fender holes...arghhhh

    -

when the brass nuts have come off ...5 minutes later....watch for a washer + a spacer to fall off each thread!!

note the wedge ended 5w push fit bulbs!!

ya so want to keep checking they light up, as you put it all back together again....who the f*ck designed that lot

15 minutes!! Angry - compared to 2 screws up front and pull out from bottom to undo the headlight rim - 2 minutes

UK info only - i so want an LED rear light unit please!! ..............cheers tomBig Smile
