    Aftermarket bars

I just picked up a set of 1 1/2" drag bars off ebay and was looking them over.  Just eyeballing them, it looks like the ends of the risers are off.  One looks to be at least 1/8" longer than the other, maybe more but definitely not as much as 1/4".  I've never changed out bars before (pretty new to modding in general), is this the norm or are the bars messed up?  The bars are pretty beefy and I wouldn't think they would flex or have much give but I just don't know.  Any opinions or advice would be much appreciated before I try to install them.  If I should return them, I'd like to do it in the condition they were sent to me so the seller doesn't say the defect was due to my attempted install.  Thanks in advance.

The riser portion of the TT's should be the same length else they wont mount properly to the top of the tree bushings w/o using a spacer/washer that will be fugly.

Return the bars if you're sure they differ in length.

    • you can qualify the bars by having someone assist you .... place the riser ends on a flat surface, as if on the top tree, and measure the vertical distance at each extreme end of the grips and also take notice if the riser ends are flush and flat to the flat surface.
    • alternately, you can substitute a straight edge in lieu of the flat surface

I'm sure other members have their methodolgy for checking too Wink

Thanks for the reply Alan.  I did a quick check by placing it on a counter so that one riser was flat on the surface.  The other riser was definitely shorter by that 1/8" gap that I eyeballed.  So if worse comes to worse and I'm stuck with them, I could use a washer to even them up?  When I was eyeballing them at first, I also thought they might not both be flush (have different rakes) at the bottoms of the risers, but looking at them against the countertop they look pretty parallel (the gap seems consistent under the short riser).
