    Trailering Suggestions HELP!

Any pictures or suggestions for trailering Warrior for 2200 mile trip behind my Trailblazer for relocation to sunny CA.

There is no chock or nose for the front wheel as you can see from the photo.
There are heavy duty tie down rings front, center and rear as well as rails.

Can the bike be towed on the side stand with frt shocks partially collapsed and the front wheel skewed to either the left or right front corner of the trailer?

Any and all suggestions or photos would be very much appreciated from those with hands on experience [;)]

    Thanks, Alan

I've done the same as you describe with my Virago. Make sure it's tight, but even on each side...if you favor the kickstand side too much it may tip. If you have the room, just use the corner as a chock and have two ties front and back leaving the bike straight up.

I'd call around different U-hauls in the area and try and locate one. I really recommend using a motorcycle trailer. All the ones that were closest to me only had one between them, and they had it booked three days out. Then I called one 10 miles north, and they had three sitting in their lot. I've only towed my bike the one time, and the only advice I can give is to make sure you have quality tie down straps. I bought some that were recommended by a dealer, only to have one of them break going over a big dip... nothing jarring, just a big dip. My Warrior leaned to one side, and rolled back a few inches. Thankfully none of the tins were damaged. The only thing that got any damage was the reflector on the mud flap (which I promptly hacked off anyway).

    DON'T LEAVE THE SIDESTAND DOWN!!!!

One big bump and you will either bend your sidestand, or better yet, bend or crack your frame. Leave all the work to the tie downs and you'll be much better off. If there is no wheel chock just tie the front wheel to the center beam. It won't move at all.

RaySDF250....thanks for the input. U-Haul motorcycle trailers must be returned to the original location and are not available for one-way use here in MI [:(]

The ramp trailer i'm renting is for over the road cartage of motorcycles & 4x4 and is the only trailer they have.

Your recommendation is to load the bike on the centerline of the trailer with the front tire touching the front of trailer, tie front wheel to frt rail, use frt tie downs and collapse shocks (How Much) and where do i attach hold down straps frt & rear?

Alan when you tie the bars down with ratchet straps dont pre load the front forks too much as you can blow out the seals. Say hello to the cali boy's for me!

Alan this is exactly I've always done it before. Remember, the Warrior has rubber mounted bars so you don't ever want to pull down on them with the straps. As for compression on the Warrior forks I don't really know. I've never actually trailered the Warrior, but only the other bikes I've owned. If you compressed them about halfway through the fork travel I be pretty sure you would be safe.

Invest in good ratchet tie downs, don't use any of that nickel ninenine crap. Tie four corners make sure your tight and drive on. Check at each gas stop.

I trailered my Warrior and my wifes 454LTD Kaw from Ohio to North Carolina and back on a wood floor trailer. I nailed short pieces of 2x4s beside the front tires with the tire against the nose of the trailer. I used four straps on each bike. two to the front corners ans two to the side rails. I give one strap one or two clicks about 50 miles after I left and never had to touch them again for the whole trip. Pull the forks down enough so bumps won't cause the forks to collapse any more. Whem the bike goes down and comes back up it can cause the straps to break or come unhooked. I duct taped the hooks so they could not come loose if the straps got slack in them.

When I tie my bike down to the trailer, I use blocks under the frame, then tie it down. If you look my forks they are not compressed at all. Once the bike is in place I put the big block in place than lean the bike over to insert the 2x6's, then pull down on the straps.

Hey neighbor......is the trailer floor made out of wood? If it is just install a 2x4 on each side of the front wheel. Also you can buy straps for the forks at your local bike shop and make sure you get good quality rachet straps. If you go to a HD dealer you can get a good quality set and those have a built in strap on them. Also don't leave the kickstand down.....bad things can happen[;)]

And yes...do not compress the forks too much, you can blow out the seals. Uhhuh has a good idea there.

Let me know if you need any help when you get into town......[8D]

Guys, with the chrome fork tube covers, front brake hose, turn signals and wires there isn't any room to run straps on the lower tree [:(]

357WARRIOR....the floor is not wood....i think it is an aluminum extrusion similar to truck trailer so no nailing.
Where would you attach straps to the billet fork covers?

Uhhuh does have a good idea there. I'd have to assemble something that would prevent the wood framing from shifting.
