Saddlebagus says, "I find your argument that, because we don't understand everything in the universe, magic is possible quite interesting. It is of course always impossible to prove anything doesn't exist. I challenge you to prove to me that invisible unicorns do not exist. That's not what science does. The fact that everything in the universe has not been explained is not a reason to accept organised religion as believable. Calling the big bang theory magic is wacky. It is a THEORY based on sound scientific reasoning. The fact that you don't understand it doesn't make it magic."
I apologize that I am not able to convey my meanings and concepts. Firstly, I already explained my meaning for "magic". You seem to have negative connotations for that word. It simply means an event that is unexplainable by principle, an uncaused event. I understand the big bang very well as it is an uncaused event scientifically speaking. We can calculate back to the beginning of the big bang to .00000000000000000000000000000000000001 of a second (10 to the minus 37 if I recall correctly - a very small number at any rate). At that point the physical laws, forces, melt down to a non-sensical result. Anything before that time is not within our grasp by natural law, by principle.
There are many fundamental principles in science that are accepted by science that limits knowledge. As I said before, in order to know the future of the universe with specificity one would have to have a computer at least as large as the universe or larger. This is an impossibility acknowledged by science. The Heisenberg Uncertainty principle is accepted by all science. Note the word "uncertainty". At the quantum level we give up much ability for knowledge by principle.
If you believe that you have free will, you are a magician. This is because the only means to a free will is to have uncaused events (magic) cause your decisions. Otherwise you are trapped inside the physical world, a mere robot and all is deterministic (spiced with some indeterminant quantum effects), a complex chain of causes, and pre-ordained from before the big bang. If you are a robot, your free will is an illusion.
Somehow you assume I have some kind of religious agenda. I find that interesting and somewhat perplexing as well. Some folks, not you personally I am sure, use science as a religion.
