I'm checking to see if AMOSPROs map is still available for down loading....maybe I even have it right here on my pc at work. I'll check for it.
IT'S UNDER DOWNLOADS AT THE TOP OF THIS PAGE. THIS IS A .MAP FILE AND CAN BE OPENED WITH EITHER VERSION OR THE PC3 SOFTWARE.
regarding the backfiring. Once I loaded AMOSPROS map I for the most part left it alone. back firing although we can not 100% remove it, we can tune out most of it.
One key for me was a couple of tips i got from Woody "Churchkey" on this site.
he stated I should make sure that the HI-MID-LOW range rpm settings on the pc3 (where we can add+ and remove- fuel across the rpm range)should all be base lined at 0 (correct me if I'm wrong woody). This way the true settings of the map are loadedwithout being changed + or - by the range buttons.
His suggestion was in the cold temps to ?? depending on how the bike is running, remove a little fuel and in the hotter weather add a little fuel? via the rpm range buttons depending on what the timing of the back firing was, ie, during up shifts, or down shifts.ALso remember that some of the back fire....like lots of mine is do to me not fully shutting the throttle (what I call lazy throttle hand) and load the bike with fuel and BANG! thats not the map but ME!
i know this starts getting tricky, cause there's a differance between the "cough" which is when the engine is starving for fuel due to a lean condition at a certain area of the rmp range and %throttle and the back fire due to a rich condition. When and where these are happening needs to be noted so folks out here can help you tune it out.
In the end, you'll end up with a map that needs little to know messing around with.
My opinion, and I know guys are all about those expensive custom maps is that even with a custom map those do not compensate for the weather conditions (hot/cold/humid) which all impact the way the bike runs. yes the custom map will get you right where you need to be. But I saved the $200 + or - dollars and loaded a map from this site and did a little customizing based on what many others before me have done.
So to keep it simple....getting a map loaded that gets you "in the ball park" may still need a couple of easy tweeks to get it spot on.
