    PC Map question

I just finished my AIS block and VBAC mods and I have V & H Big Shot pipes.  I took the bike out for a spin after I completed the two mods and it didn't run very well.  I uploaded a PC map called MATTKCRenoD that was posted by CarKnee in the download section of this site and installed it in my PC.  The bike took off like a raped ape and ran quite well, very little backfiring.

My question is this.  Although I am very pleased with the way my bike is now preforming, their is alway room for improvment.  Does anyone know of a PC map that may be better suited to my bike considering the mods and pipes that i have listed above?

    Re: PC Map question

     I'm running AMOSPRO's map

I believe this is the map though I'd have to confirm back home on the bike/laptop. The beast is running strong with next to no burps cept when I get lazy with the throttle hand. I have the same mods you have I believe so this is a good option. i also ran MATTKCRreno map and as I recall is ran pretty lean so I looked at others. Check you plugs (left front and rear jug plug) depending on how long you've been running this mapamd see if they look WHITE....AMOSPROS map seems to be spot on! Hope this helps....wouldn't hurt to try. Just make sure you have the current map stored where you can re-upload if you need to.

Did you get it off of this site?  I tried to download it and Windows said that it did not recognize the file type.

I'm running ampro's modified map i tried the MATTKCRenoD map and i think the ampro runs stronger i could tell the difference it pulls off the line and hiway speeds stronger i have the same mod's as you, same year and color (small world huh) mine does backfire when the motors still cool going from first to second and i've never checked the plugs yet though

    Re: PC Map question

I'm checking to see if AMOSPROs map is still available for down loading....maybe I even have it right here on my pc at work. I'll check for it.

IT'S UNDER DOWNLOADS AT THE TOP OF THIS PAGE. THIS IS A .MAP FILE AND CAN BE OPENED WITH EITHER VERSION OR THE PC3 SOFTWARE.

regarding the backfiring. Once I loaded AMOSPROS map I for the most part left it alone. back firing although we can not 100% remove it, we can tune out most of it.

One key for me was a couple of tips i got from Woody "Churchkey" on this site.

he stated I should make sure that the HI-MID-LOW range rpm settings on the pc3 (where we can add+ and remove- fuel across the rpm range)should all be base lined at 0 (correct me if I'm wrong woody). This way the true settings of the map are loadedwithout being changed + or - by the range buttons.

His suggestion was in the cold temps to ?? depending on how the bike is running, remove a little fuel and in the hotter weather add a little fuel?  via the rpm range buttons depending on what the timing of the back firing was, ie, during up shifts, or down shifts.ALso remember that some of the back fire....like lots of mine is do to me not fully shutting the throttle (what I call lazy throttle hand) and load the bike with fuel and BANG! thats not the map but ME!

i know this starts getting tricky, cause there's a differance between the "cough" which is when the engine is starving for fuel due to a lean condition at a certain area of the rmp range and %throttle and the back fire due to a rich condition. When and where these are happening needs to be noted so folks out here can help you tune it out.

In the end, you'll end up with a map that needs little to know messing around with.

My opinion, and I know guys are all about those expensive custom maps is that even with a custom map those do not compensate for the weather conditions (hot/cold/humid) which all impact the way the bike runs. yes the custom map will get you right where you need to be. But I saved the $200 + or - dollars and loaded a map from this site and did a little customizing based on what many others before me have done.

So to keep it simple....getting a map loaded that gets you "in the ball park" may still need a couple of easy tweeks to get it spot on.

Thank you for the help guy's.  Gchalifo, I must say that I am not folloing you when you talk about the HI-MID-LOW range RPM setting.  I do not see that on the map, but maybe when I get out to the bike it will become more clear.  If you have any clairification on this, let me know.

If you PM me your outside email address I will email you the Dynojet technical manual.  It provides extra inside info, including using the hi-med-low buttons for touch-ups.  Mike
