Serious question... Why is this prison not already full? It is my understanding "from watching the discovery channel" that prisons all over the country are VERY overpopulated. Some of these places have setup dorms in the gym or whatever. Seems to me they could all be moved to this empty prison unless of course there isn't any money in it. We built the prison because we needed it, they could have filled it in weeks. It cost $140 million to build and in 2001 housing prisoners ceased to be a priority. It was decided that coddling prisoners might work better, funding was cut and they started releasing criminals for good behavior instead.

Every one gets worked up over the prisoners in Guantanamo being moved onto American soil but the fact is 340 terrorist have already been convicted in Federal Courts and are housed around the Country. These douche-bags are nothing special, they're just high profile because of where they're at now,

Yes it certainly did but without bias or prejudice you actually have very little to say. You are without a doubt the most biased and prejudiced person I have ever had any dealings with by far. You just point these wonderful qualities in directions that are more acceptable to the herd.

I do have a question in my mind. If.... anybody currently being held in Gitmo is tried on American soil, when they are found innocent because the rights they never had under the constitution were violated, where are they going to release them?  I hope they release them at my house.

But we still have severely over populated prisons right? Coddled or not this empty facility should have been opened and utilized for those prisoners right? Or am I missing something?

I have two issues with them moving the prisoners here. 1. I don't want to spend the money that doesn't exist. 2. These A holes are going to be at the center of a huge media circus. I don't want them to have that large a voice. I still believe that the US constitution doesn't apply to people from other countries. We have executed illegal combatants on the spot in the past and should have done the same in this instance.

Foreigner attacks us on our soil, No uniform, No formal declaration of war = illegal combatant = execution.. Apparently the Germans got a taste of that if my Faux news doesn't fail me. Smaller government and putting America first sounds good to me. We used to have some respect around the globe but our supreme leaders have squandered our cred.

  And to somehow think that because the prison that will house these  terrorists is located near a military base makes it safe is nonsense. The terrorists would never target our military. Or blow a hole in a Navy ship. Or crash a plane into the Pentagon. Or blow up Marines in their barracks. Or a lone SoA wouldn't shoot up a base in Texas.

I agree with everything you said, (damn I must not be as liberal as you think). Prisons are full, that includes State and Federal and in my opinion Thomson should have been put to use long ago. 

In my opinion "enemy combatants" should not be taken prisoner. I don't think I would have done it but I don't think its fair to second guess those that did.

Guantanamo is already already a huge media circus in case you haven't noticed and as such these guys wouldn't be executed by a military tribunal even if McCain had been elected. I can say the media has forgotten about the 340 that have already been convicted in Federal Courts and are quietly serving time in American prisons.

The Most Corrupt ever  is a pretty bold statement if you dont consider the Salary Grab Act, The Whiskey Ring, the Pentagon Papers, anything to do with Nixon, Iran/Contra, James Watt, White Water or the IRS.

I gather from the rest of your post you feel they would be more secure in a Prison being secured by concrete, steel, chain link and razor wire and guarded by corrections officers with AR15s than they would be on the coast of an island in the Caribbean surrounded by chain link, razor wire and guarded by corrections officers with M16's who just so happen to be in the reserves.

Now wipe it out of your vag already.
