JUST REMEMBER,,,,,,,,,,,, 3 yrs ago or so, i think is was a train bombing in Spain by terrorists, the FBI, Spain's special intelligence and others came to the conclusion that a local lawyer,a Muslim, from here in Portland was involved. He was whisked away and pretty much convicted by speculation and 1/2 truths.........well guess what?........he was innocent , not even close to being involved.  the authorities f-up, go figure.......he had his day in Court and his innocence was proved..........thank god.............now i get the whole ....f-en just killem, shootem yada yada yada,,,,,,,,,,,but what if that was you, or your loved one? do you really trust these man made govt to be flawless and infalable..........i hope not.......you are not behaving like the men that made this country great.

Well said. all you proud republicans like to call the liberals hipoctites, yet here you are supporting the squasing of rights. Your argument about the government incroaching on any of YOUR rights is answered with  with sayings like "if they register the guns it's just the first step before the eventualy come and get them". Well if they take away someone elses rights what's stopping them from taking yours. It's like free speech, you may not always like what they say, but you have to respect their right to say it. These are horrible people for the most part, no one's arguing that, but to say the government or the military can decide who gets treated differently sounds like a pretty slippery slope to me.

Even if you have declared war and have every intention of destroying the country?  Wow, pretty cool place

FACT: In June of 2006 the National Ground Intelligence Center, a Defense Department intelligence unit, released portions of a declassified report which stated unequivocally that “Since 2003, coalition forces have recovered approximately 500 weapons munitions which contain degraded mustard or sarin nerve agent.”

FACT: In a January 2008 report on 60 minutes, top CIA operative George Piro revealed that Saddam Hussein had phased out his biological weapons program since the 90s but was willing to go to war with the U.S., because he needed to continue the illusion that he had an active WMD program, as a hedge against his arch enemy, Iran. He apparently had no idea that the U.S. was planning such an exhaustive offensive, or he would’ve reconsidered that strategy.

FACT: Saddam was planning on restarting his program on every level (nuclear and biological), approximately one year after U.N. sanctions were lifted. This explains why he was actively approaching North Africa for the procurement of yellow cake. This also explains why 550 metric tons of the stuff was removed from Iraq in 2008 courtesy of the United States of America.

What does it all mean? Well…it means that we can dispense with Bush bashing over the “no WMDs” hoax. There are plenty of other things to be pissed off about concerning Bush Jr, but his grounds for invasion ain’t one of ‘em.  Long before Bush Jr was going to war, the same liberals who decried it, were agreeing with the intel and saying, “we have no choice but to take Hussein out.”
Gotta love selective memories and mondy morning quarterbacks

    saddlebagus:

    Centerline:
"One way or the other, we are determined to deny Iraq the capacity to develop weapons of mass destruction and the missiles to deliver them. That is our bottom line." President Clinton, Feb. 4, 1998. "If Saddam rejects peace and we have to use force, our purpose is clear. We want to seriously diminish the threat posed by Iraq's weapons of mass destruction program." President Clinton, Feb. 17, 1998. "Iraq is a long way from [here], but what happens there matters a great deal here. For the risks that the leaders of a rogue state will use nuclear, chemical or biological weapons against us or our allies is the greatest security threat we face." Madeline Albright, Feb 18, 1998.

You will note all those statements were made BEFORE this:

By March 2003, Hans Blix had found no stockpiles of WMD and had made significant progress toward resolving open issues of disarmament noting "proactive" but not always the "immediate" Iraqi cooperation as called for by UN Security Council Resolution 1441. He concluded that it would take “but months” to resolve the key remaining disarmament tasks.[4] The United States asserted this was a breach of Resolution 1441 but failed to convince the UN Security Council to pass a new resolution authorizing the use of force due to lack of evidence.

Here is a former US Marine who was on various inspection teams. You should appreciate this as he is critical of Clinton too:

LOL, well barring you declaring war on us. With our military the war shouldn't last any longer that it takes to negotiate a surrender at which point I'm hoping we'd have citizenship in the giaganto country of the USA.

Yes, small quantities of long since inert agents manufactured circa 1980s were found, this was not what the administration assured us would be found nor was it a remote threat to the US.  If they had presented it as we must go to clean up chemicals buried for the last decade, then no one would criticize their honesty with the American public, but let's face it, they made it seem like Iraq was still producing WMD faster than China produces plastic toys.

    Washingtonwarrior:
FACT: In a January 2008 report on 60 minutes, top CIA operative George Piro revealed that Saddam Hussein had phased out his biological weapons program since the 90s but was willing to go to war with the U.S., because he needed to continue the illusion that he had an active WMD program, as a hedge against his arch enemy, Iran. He apparently had no idea that the U.S. was planning such an exhaustive offensive, or he would’ve reconsidered that strategy.

For a guy so willing to go to war, he had no problem allowing weapons inspectors to audit his country.

    Washingtonwarrior:
FACT: Saddam was planning on restarting his program on every level (nuclear and biological), approximately one year after U.N. sanctions were lifted. This explains why he was actively approaching North Africa for the procurement of yellow cake.

This one is absolute malarky. The whole North Africa yellow cake fraud was why Cheney took revenge and outted the CIA agent (Valerie Plame).  He didn't like that her husband (Joe Wilson) exposed the lie publically.

I'm willing to believe that he may have planned on restarting his programs if you have evidence to support the claim.  Someone else's speculation is insuffient.  It's like me believing you plan on creating an Anthrax filled Warrior of Mass Destruction because Old Man told me so.

    Washingtonwarrior:
This also explains why 550 metric tons of the stuff was removed from Iraq in 2008 courtesy of the United States of America.

While yellowcake alone is not considered potent enough for a so-called "dirty bomb" — a conventional explosive that disperses radioactive material — it could stir widespread panic if incorporated in a blast. Yellowcake also can be enriched for use in reactors and, at higher levels, nuclear weapons using sophisticated equipment.

The Iraqi government sold the yellowcake to a Canadian uranium producer, Cameco Corp., in a transaction the official described as worth "tens of millions of dollars." A Cameco spokesman, Lyle Krahn, declined to discuss the price, but said the yellowcake will be processed at facilities in Ontario for use in energy-producing reactors.

Bahh.  They were just scared to be seen as Bin Laden lovers if they disagreed.  Not that Bin Laden had a thing in the world to do with Iraq, the majority of the American public isn't educated or at least interested enough to know any better.  Besides, how hard should it be to beat up on a third world country with a decimated military courtesy of Papa Bush?  Even Dems had to believe it was a "slam dunk."  At least the one's with more career aspirations than principals.

    OK, question for everyone...

If 9/11 had not happened, what do you think the chances are that we would have invaded Iraq?

I want people to really think this one through before responding.

    Thanks!

I give it between 3.6 and 5.9% probability. George just wanted to LOOK like he was doing something and attacking the country that the terrorists came from was out of the question.

If Bu$h was prez, probably.  Remember how popular kicking Saddam's butt the first time made his daddy?  And in 2003 with a decimated military why not?  Seemingly little risk and enormous political benefits.  Goggle Richard Clarke sometime.  He was a Clinton holdover who practically begged the Bu$hies to focus on Al Queda pre 9/11, but they instead focused on how they could make politcal hey in Iraq.

But if anyone with morals were in office, probably not.

So the were willing to agree to go to war just because they didn't want to look like Bin Laden lovers.  There is some moral conviction for you.

I'm back.  My what an interesting read.  I have learned Bush is responsible for all that is wrong in the world and all but the righteous are told what to think by Fox.   Y'all have heard of a *** whipped man have you not?  I am beginning to think the libs are *** whipped.

There should be no civil trial. Those are for criminals.  ALLEGED terrorists should go before a military tribunal.  These people are not accused of committing felonies.  They are accused of committing war crimes.   In a civil trial there is supposed to be a jury of the accused peers.  Are they going to recruit them from the mid-east and ask them to check their suicide vests at the door?   They committed an act of war and therefore should be judged by warriors!

i think take all the terriorists and the people that feel they should have rights and stick them all in a building and fly a few planes into their party

So the people who think terrorists shouldn't have rights should...become terrorists?  What an interesting cycle that would be...

No.  Terrorists attack innocent civilians.  In this scenario only terrorists and A-holes are being taken out.
