    Barnett clutch

Does the Barnett clutch spring adapter plate come with different sets of springs or do they need to be bought seperatly?

Comes with the Gold springs. If you want anything stiffer than that, you have to get them separately.

From your Gallery you have plenty of mods, but the motor internals are stock 102ci.  The Barnett gold springs are heavier than you need, believe me I know.  I've been beating-up my bike since 2005 with the SR-2 and gold springs, and I am still running the same clutch discs that I installed when I installed the clutch spring kit back then.

If you really want heavier springs, you are better off to telephone Barnett and talk with them.  Also, some members find they also need a heavier clutch cable if they go heavier than the gold springs, others don't seem to.  Don't know why.

Oh, and if I didn't tell you before, your bike turned out AWESOME!

Nope, it won't be stock any more. Heads, throttle body, cam went to Patrick racing. They are due back nest week. I have already installed HC pistons. I am getting the stage two head work. I think I need the heavier springs. Just need to figure out where to get them.

    Wow!  Very cool!

Note the SR-2 (#511-90-10002) with standard gold springs works in the Gen1 VMax too, so its a little heavier than you might expect.  But I'd agree it can't hurt to be careful, you'll be packing some extra heavy torque off the line.

Call Barnett to determine the best springs then buy them thru a dealer they recommend.  I haven't looked at this in a long time now, but I think green springs are the next heavier - and its quite a lot heavier than gold so you might consider a heavier cable too, although some stay stock successfully.  It seems like red springs are the heaviest set, you'll for sure need a stronger cable IMO.

    Re: Barnett clutch

Thanks Arizona for the replies. I am getting quite anxious to get the parts back and get it together and feel the difference. About 75% increase in power I am guessing. Better be careful with it. I'll call about getting the green springs. I'll also see if you can use 1/2 and 1/2 gold and green.

Keep 'em all the same to transfer the pressure equally and keep everything flat.

Ask Barnett for any differing torque numbers between gold, green, and red springs and let me know, please?

Your HP should jump from ~80 at the crank, to well over 100 at the rear wheel.  TQ will leap too.  It'll be a definite difference!
