    Cruise Control

I was surfing and found an electronic cruise control system for the Warrior, I will have to try and find what site it was on. Does anybody else know anything about this system?

Audiovox maybe?  Check the FJR forum.  I'm pretty sure it's an Audiovox unit they are using and it should work on the Warrior as well.  I think someone on here is in the process of putting one on now.

Maybe there is something newer out there but I'm only familiar with the audiovox http://www.fjr1300.info/howto/audiovox.html and the Rostra units http://www.rostra.com/cc-250-1753.asp .  I think both systems are made for cars but they are being adapted to motorcycles with added switches and what-not.  Neither is made specifically for the Warrior, they are universal car kits.

If there's something else new out there I haven't stumbled across it yet so if you find it please post it!

supply a link and we'll check it out.  I'm happy with the breakaway throttle lock, looks custom made, works good, no added elictrical load,  Run enough dc gadgets as is;.

    Re: Cruise Control

I remember a couple of hundred years ago harleys did not have return springs on the throttle.  Open it to whatever position and it would stay there.  Not the safest thing in the world.   The Wing is the only bike I have had with an actual electronic cruise control.  I knew it came with the bike but didn't think I would use it much.  I was wrong. I use that thing all the time, love it.  Please take lots of pics during your install Lee.  I can see this becoming a very popular mod with guys who do any distance riding.

My old school cruise control is a fat "O" ring that fits between the twist grip & switch box. The throttle still adjusts but will stay where its put. A small zip tie through the "O" ring allows easy removal from the cruise side back to the right side of the twist grip flange where it lives until it is needed again.

It was www.spoiledbiker.com but I was mistaken it lists other Roadstars but not the Warrior. So I guess I will be buying either the break away or the throttle rocker any suggestions. I have some long trips planned next summer.

One guy mounted a 12 volt socket on the right side of the bike, just inside the front of the tank.

    Re: Cruise Control

If you plan to spend one grand on cruise control, you might as well spend $250 on a cool 50sBoys cruise control and $750 on some nice mods for your bike.

Every bike should have a Throttle Rocker! I dunno how yous guys ride without it. They don't work with IsoGrips, but Kury makes a little tab that does the same thing and works nearly as well. Having said that... There's no way to compare the Throttle Rocker to a cruise control, or even to a throttle lock like the Break Away. At 10 bucks... the price don't compare either. Get one!

Here's a cruise control install from the land down under that i had book marked from '07'. A neat write-up and interesting install too as i remember it well Smile

After finding I was not looking forward to getting back on the bike on long trips, it was time to do something to ease the aching wrist. After much researching, I bit the bullet & opted for the most expensive option - It also seemed to be very very good.

The biggest problem was unobtrusively fitting the bulky parts to the bike.
Initially it was figured that the only place to mount the actuator was on the frame:

But then I figured that with a lot of time and patience I could fitit under the AIS cover if I hacked away the bottom half of the redundant bracket:

After a day of fr!gging around I finally got it to fit and with the cover back on it's hardly noticable.:

Ther's also a cable interface unit (CIU), into which the the throttle cable must go, the actuator cable also goes into there & via an ingenious spool connection another cable comes out to ontrol the fuel injection. Originally this was going behind the AIS cover but there's no room left with the actuator there so I came up with a mounting for und

    Then there was the wiring:

Yes, a mess, but we got there.

Yes that's the computer where the toolkit used to be. Very very well written program in the computer I have to say. The diagnostics got me out of trouble with the install.

    And the control module:

It's very sweet looking and user friendly.

Finally the whole package is barely noticeable & I have what I wanted, a fantastic cruise control with more safety features than you can poke a stick at. And I'm enjoying the long trips again.

    Cheers
