Re: Obama's Frightening Insensitivity Following Shooting

I was wondering how long it was going to take before somebody brought up Bush's story reading time.  I don't see what the news worthy major problem is with either and obviously in hindsight there are always a dozen ways you could react to something that would appear better, be more productive, better accepted by voters, etc.  In the end though all the talk about both these instances are ussually from people who already have an axe to grind and are constantly on the lookout for ammunition to take down the guy they don't like.  Get over it guys, Obama didn't score 100% on this test.  How surprising can that really be to anyone?  The "shout-out" was to maintain his reputation as a connected modern leader (you know, the rep that got him elected despite logic) and it was obviously in the speech before the revision and was just erroneously left in.  I'm no more offended by that then I am any other day I think about him being our president personally.

I think saddlebagus was probably really proud of the great defense he'd thought of for Obama but I don't think that our current president handled a much smaller scale attack (not saying Terrorist attack by the way) even half as well as GW initially handled the news of 911.

Hopefully, he will do his job and we will never find out.  Be that as it may, besides Bu$h's lack of attention to Al Queda and the horrific consequences,  I thought his administration's initial response was quite measured and his composure and most of his public appearances were quite inspiring.  Really suprised me at the time as I thought he was a complete moron during the campaign.  But alas he lost his mind and wasted all our resources chasing his pet "evildoer" and now we're broke.  Have a great day!

It's bad, but only in the sense that there's really no "good" way to interrupt an event like the TNC with news of a shooting, especially when details are still fuzzy.  It's certainly not "frightening".

Ok, mark this one down in History. But I have to 100% agree with Damon. he has to close the Tribal Nations Conference, during which he has to give "his take" on the shootings. that is a lose/lose for whomever was at the podium. I didn't vote for Obama, but I can't knock on him for this one either.

I don't think it would have been a lose/lose. Yes, he had to switch modes so to speak on the shootings, however, the tactful approach would have been to keep a stoic or somber appearance, which is what the situation called for. Was it "terrible"? No. It was however ill suited to the discussion which left me feeling like Obama is an insensitive douche.

Very suprised to see you see say as much.

Al Queda, very active during Bill Clintons's term as our commander and chief, was know to be behind the bombing of The United States Navy Destroyer DDG-67 USS Cole in October of 2000, and Bill's lack of attention was disasterous.  So yes, I too hope that Obama will do his job and won't repeat the mistakes of the past.

He doesn't give a sh!t about troops. Why should he act like he does? I applaud him for not acting as if he had anything heart felt to say.

+1   I also agree with James on this as well.  Although it could have been done better, he would have caught flack for dissing the Indians then.  It's all perspective.

You do know that the President of the United States is the commander and chief of our nations military.  Do you also not give a sh!t about the troops?  Is that what you applaud?Zip it!

My opinion of the troops is my business. I spent ten years in the Army and have hung my @ss in the wind more than once so I don't give a sh!t what you think about how I feel about the troops.

+1 again to James LOL ; 7 years active duty myself, CIB, and drank a coke out of manuel noriega's fridge in rio hato panama Big Smile, along with other "ops".  I dont think our current "commander and chief" of OUR military thinks to highly of the ones who "serve" under him.

If you recall, Mr Clinton permitted the CIA to try to take him out on more than one occassion, but he was lambasted for causing a stir to draw attention away from Ms Lewinsky, by the same numb nuts Republicans who wasted all your tax dollars to catch a grown man having consensual sex with a grown woman.

I'm not sure what you would have had Clinton do after the bombing.  The bombers were dead, it's a little hard to punish them at that point dontcha think?
