The following is a letter to the editor from my hometown newspaper, the MAT-SU Valley Frontiersman. I didn't write it, I don't own it, I'm just posting it Damon. I did not call the guy to find out if he actually wrote this or to check on his sources. I didn't even check to see if he stayed in a Holiday Inn Express the night before he wrote this. It's just a letter to the editor and I thought some here might find it interesting.
To the editor:
Does everyone recognize that sexual prostitution isn’t the most common type of prostitution in our society?
Scientific prostitutes take grants and employment to create “studies” that support a predetermined theory or technological remedy that’s favorable to the paymaster. They often congregate in an orgy called “scientific consensus.” Useful science is found credible through everyone practicing authentic scientific discipline — not through worshipping big-shot “expert” opinion.
Media prostitutes take money and lurid information to use sensationalism and slant to shape public opinion for the paymaster’s purposes. Contrariwise, true journalism informs public opinion and encourages unbiased education to support competent citizenship.
Political prostitutes take campaign donations and supportive propaganda to make our government provide funding for public welfare/national security or coercive public regulation that’s favorable to the paymaster. They often congregate in political parties to bully citizens gullible enough to believe trusting leaders can replace public supervision of Constitution application. Constitutions, laws, explicit citizen representation, and separation of powers wouldn’t be necessary if good government could be had just by electing trustworthy people.
Religious prostitutes take money and popularity to interpret God’s will to favor man-made prejudices and beliefs that empower political ambition and lust for human domination. Did Jesus Christ lobby Roman government to support his ministry and to enforce giving respect to the glory of God? Did He?
There are also educational, medical and military prostitutes who trade their convictions, honor or professional standards for money, job security or popularity.
Such immorality hurts us all every day.
Unfortunately, the historical problem with all forms of prostitution is that they are enabled by people’s defense of their ethical compromises. Naturally, such depravity in oneself and others is mutually tolerated using self-dishonesty. Even God testifies to that.
