    Oil Filter Relocation

Does anyone know if the Baron's oil filter relocation kit for Yamaha's XV1100 will fit our bike?  I'm just tired of taking off the lower cowl everytime to get the oil filter off and wondered if there that will work, or if there is a universal filter relocation kit.

    Thanks.

I have the 1100 relo kit on my VStar - no it won't work.  There was a recent post for a machined billet mid-block that fits between the casing and the oem oil filter mount, but it doesn't have hoses for a remote filter.  I haven't seen a remote filter for this set-up.  Why not mod the cowling fasteners to make 'em easier to remove?

Thanks.  I'll just go with the zip-ties to hold the lower cowl on, and make it easier to access the current oil filter.

I've wondered if these would work, they are used in our bikes to retain the relays rack in the battery box.  They are also used on cars to retain bumpers and trim panels.  Seems like you just need to know the hole size, but I don't have that chin cowl.  As you know, you just push the pin further down into the housing to release the fastener.  Then you would (for example) lay the cowl down, insert the housing thru the cowling mount hole and into the hole on the bike, then insert the pin (pic) to lock it.  They handle lots of abuse.

Again, I don't know if these work in threaded holes, or only in thinwall holes like a hole in a plastic widget.

I cut a hole in the bottom of the chin spoiler, between the lower two mounts. I can stick my hand in there, and remove the filter. Let us know what you do.
