Keep in your thoughts and prayers.

In an interesting and tragic turn of events, I have just learned of a (potential) passing of a friend.  You can draw your conclusions.  I put my 05  Warrior up for sale in the spring of this year on Craigs list and it fitting as it would be, a a quick interest was had.  I got a call from this guy was quite keen and he came and looked at the bike.  What was more cool about the encounter was he was a Coast Guard Aviation Mechanic stationed at Air Station Miami and I was a recently retried Coast Guard Chief and we knew the same guys.  We made a gentlemans deal and a few months later, he came and bought the bike.  As his transfer neared, he was staged to go to Air Station Sacramento and was keen on riding the Warrior out in on California roads and moutains.  We conversed about the history of my Warrior and I was able to keep tabs on my old bike.  He posted on here only a few times and has reported to me the information on this board, as we all know, is phenomenal.  A couple of days ago, a Coast Guard C-130 collided with a USMC helicopter and I just found out from his girlfriend, he was on board.  A 26 year old in the midst of a brilliant carrer who happend to be a Warrior Rider.  I am compelled to let you brethen know this for some reason.    His nic name is HndRdr18

"I am deeply saddened to report that one of our C-130 aircraft, CG-1705 out of AIRSTA Sacramento, crashed last night about 15 miles east of San Clemente Island off the coast of San Diego. CG-1705, with seven Guardians onboard, was searching for an overdue 12-foot pleasure craft when there was a collision with a Marine Corps AH-1 Cobra helicopter at 1915 Pacific local time. There were two personnel on the Marine Corps helicopter which was conducting a separate training exercise.

The Coast Guard, Marine Corps, and Navy have been working collaboratively overnight and throughout today in response to this tragedy. I want to ensure our workforce is kept fully apprised as well.

We have been and continue to actively search for survivors. Two Navy surface vessels were on scene almost immediately after the accident. Several Navy and Coast Guard aircraft, along with a Customs and Border Patrol helicopter, are flying sorties in the area while multiple cutters including the BLACKFIN, BLACKTIP, EDISTO, PETREL, GEORGE COBB, and JARVIS are conducting surface searches. One of the Navy ships is remaining on-scene as well. No personnel have been found at this time but we will continue to work with our Marine Corps and Navy partners in this massive effort.

While we continue the search, we will fully support the men and women of AIRSTA Sacramento and their families. We are actively assisting the local field units to respond to this tragic event so they can focus on the ongoing search. This includes flowing resources and critical incident stress management teams where they are needed, supporting our fellow families and Service members, coordinating a joint military investigation, and working with our Department, the interagency, the Congress, and the media to keep people informed.

I know many of you want to know the names of the people who are missing. We are following the appropriate notification procedures and working closely with our sister Services and the impacted families to ensure the proper steps are followed. We will release that information as soon as possible.

I will provide further updates as they become available. I encourage all Coast Guard members to keep these missing Guardians and Marines in your thoughts during this difficult time and to continue looking after your shipmates."

Regretfully, I received this email response today:

Hi, this is Christina, Jason's girlfriend.  I am trying my best to check his emails and respond accordingly.  He was on the Coast Guard C-130 plane.  As of today, the search for survivors was called off.  Thank you for your concern.  He would go on your website every night and absolutely loved his motorcycle.  Please pass on this information to all concerned parties and pray for his family to get through this rough time.  He was the love of my life and now he is everyones' hero. Thank you again for your concern.

This is horrible news.  My wife and I send our prayers and deepest condolences to family and friends, including mappieclead and all the California guys Jason rode with and befriended.

OMG! I saw the news of this tragedy and felt bad for the family and their loss.

I didn't realize how close to home this was until reading this post.

I'm at a loss for words.....

    your in our prayers.

One of our RS Warrior family members is gone. Man, this really hits home. We bicker and argue like brothers sometimes, well, alot, but this reminds me that we are all RSWarrior brothers and our disagreements are trivial in the grand scheme of life.

God bless Jason and continued prayers for his family and girlfriend left behind.

He rode a Midnight, so you know he was one tough S.O.B..

Thank you for your service Jason.  God Bless.

What tragic news Chris. We were just talking about him a couple of weeks ago.

The families involved must be devastated.

    RIP to all.
