    Exhaust

Looking for a black exhaust for my 05 midnight.  Found one I like at 699.  But I also saw one on Ebay for $99.  Now I am sceptical, you get what you pay for.  I have found used Bubs, V&H and Samsons for $350-400, which I know are good builders.

     But I have two questions:

    1. Does anyone know anything about BIG GROWL Straight shooters?  Are they crap?  Or are the obnoxious pipes with no baffles?  Any input would be good.

    2. I want black pipes, not chrome.  Can I ceramic coat chrome pipes to black.  How easy and on a guess, how much?

I can save up for the $700 pipes I like or I can find new or used chrome pipes and coat them and maybe save some money.  But I have no idea how much it would cost to make chrome pipes matte black or ceramic coated.

     Thanks

Well....if you Google them, they pop up many times. Just because no one here has used them doens't mean that they're crap. On the other hand, $699 is very expensive for an experiment. I'd grab the $99 set off of eBay. That way it won't be too expensive of a lesson if they're junk.

the part u want blk are the visible part, the heat shields. u can have them powder-coated, i have checked into this and was told that powder coating could handle the heat.  don't think its to expensive either.  you might want to go cheap on the pipes intell you are positive on the style and look you want.

Get them black ceramic coated and they will look like factory pipes on the midnight.  I saw a set of speedstar pipes black ceramic coated and they looked great.  Powder coating may not be able to take the heat around the head as it has a lower burn off tempature.  I think the price for the ceramic coating was about $150.

Vance & Hines offers black ceramic coating on many of its pipes, but not for the Warrior which is a shame... Might be worth calling them to see if they would do it for you.

I just put on V&H Big Radius pipes on my Midnight and left them chrome to get in some riding B4 the snow flys.  I'm going to use Moore Power Coatings (www.moorepower.com) over the winter and get them black ceramic coated.  Their TurboX Black ChermaKrome coating is what Chuck suggested when I called,  will cost $150 and take 2 weeks.  Its good for 2000 degrees.  Their phone number is 402-786-2887.  You might want to check 'em out.
