I suppose there's two ways to 'read' the post and I guess I read the first three sentences as the 'what-to-do-to-get-started' portion. In any case, it was good advice to center the belt on the pulleys. My original belt is still in great shape - knock-on-chrome! Maybe its because a little 'out' on the rear pulley is magnified onto the front pulley. Since I've been doing this, it seems like the better the belt runs consistently on the front pulley, the better its running on the rear pulley too. And its so easy to accomplish, I don't mind if its better than the spec'd tolerance requires.

Here is how I have learned to center the wheel/belt on the pulleys:
Put the bike on a stand and put it in neutral.
Spin the wheel counter clockwise and adjust the alignment until the belt centers on the pulleys.
