Angry [:@] UK government trying to change law on speeding tickets

I've just heard that the government is trying to change the law on speeding tickets and some other motoring offences.

What they are trying to do is set things up so if you get a ticket and challenge it and win, you have to cover all the legal costs. Apparently having innocent people defend themselves is costing HMG too much money so they are trying to skewer us like this. I think their idea is that as it'll cost more than £60 to defend yourself, people will just cave in and pay up.

There is a petition up about this but it ends on the 9th November 2009 so sign it quick and pass this on to as many boards as you can.

The Pistonheads article and link to the petition can be found here:

This idea should tie in nicely Bob with the new sneaky speed cameras being put up soon.

I'd rather they had something to catch wankers that follow you to close or switch lanes straight in front of you than worry about speeding. I would rather see someone doing 130 MPH on an empty motorway at 3:00am than someone doing 50 MPH right up my ar$e. Oh yes they do have such an item. It's called the Police. Where the feck are they when you need them. Probably setting up speed traps Angry

All to do with revenue I suspect Bob. The way they see us is £££££££££££££, ....probably, wife, kids, house, job, car, bike, = money.

Oh and a charge for parking a bike....what a joke.

Re: UK government trying to change law on speeding tickets

Just to go off the subject a bit, when travelling up the M1 at about 4-5 am in the morning after a night shift. I often see the" plod" trying to break the land speed record in their jam sandwiches (BMW etc). They must pass me at 150++ in the outside lane. Its pretty amazing to see really, because at that time in the morning there are very few vehicles on the motorway. All you will see is 2 headlight beams in your mirror in the distance and then woosh as the fly past and then the tail lights far away in the distance. I always have trouble keeping up with them and only on one occassion did i manage to pass and over take them SurpriseCool. That really p*ssed them off.Big SmileCool     .......Frec.....U.K...

This is amazing to read. For a moment, I thought you guys were in the U.S. because it all sounds so similar.

Sorry to hear that you're fighting this stupidity too.
