Any one else get a Low and Mean front fender???

Got mine today, so of course I had to test fit it...it doesn't exactly install its self. First round tried w/no shims, the bottom left corner rested against the tire (stock size but upgraded to avon storm) So I shimmed out the left rear mount with 2 quarter in washers, this straightened the back side out but then the right front was resting against the tire, unfortunatly I could only get one washer in to shim it out because that bolt is the collared one that the fork guard slides into with the rubber gromit, and it was a little short when I had 2 washers behind it.  Just the one gave me clearance but I can't get it centered, the right side gap is pretty tight up front. After an hour and a half I had it on and not rubbing...let me tell ya it is both LOW AND MEAN...damn good lookin unit. I've got a friend who builds bikes and does custom paint (he is currently redoing his custom for the third or fouth time) so I'm gonna consult him (hope its a free consultation Big Smile) about making it fit better. I also got a chin scoop which I didn't try to mount but it butts up nicely and I don't expect too much trouble from it. Once I get it the way I want it the paint will start flyin' , but first I gotta do the 8k mile maintenance, good thing riding season ended yesterday.

Like to hear if anyone else got one,how it fits and what you did to make it do so. I doubt I'll post any pics until the custom paint is done. Seeing that new fender and spoiler has given me tunnel vision to the bike now and all I can think about is painting it, so pics aren't that far off, getting my hands on a camera will probbably be harder than getting it in paint.

Looking forward to seeing the pics Dan.  Hopefully I still have some ride time left this year.

Good luck on the fitment of the fender. We will have to get together next spring so I can see them in person!

Yeah buddy, theres always Hoedown if you are thirsty Beer

I just hope the peg hits the pavement b4 the fender, it really is low. I plan on putting at least a couple hours a day into it after work...then I'm gonna set up camp once weekend comes.

On an un related topic ( I feel comfortable hi-jacking my own post) I was wondering if anyone had ever come across any of this spray chrome I came across the other day... it looks to be some pretty far out stuff: Spectra Chrome

    My first link...hope it works

I was all set to put in my order for one when I noticed it only fits with the factory front tire.  I have gone up a size to match the tread with my Dunlop 240.  Well, I guess I have to wait a bit longer.

Theres more room height wise than there is width wise. There is room to ream the mounting holes to move it up as well. I'm going bolt hunting tomorrow, I need a longer one so I can shim it out to where I need it. Then I get to prep for paint, probbably time to decide what I want to do. Any suggestions??? I'm all over the board on this one.

Longer bolt and another washer used as a shim took care of it, now it sits dead even both sides. Took it out on a "test run" and it fared well. No problems even at 100mph, didn't get a peg down, but I doubt the fender will ever touch pavement unless the rest of the bike does too (hope that never happens). Then I did the maintenance thing ( oil change, t-case oil change, and plugs). Now all that needs to be done is to fab up a grille for the chin spoiler ( i'm going with bars instead of mesh) then its paint prep time.

Sounds like it's coming along good. Post some pics of you progress. You must have higher speed limits than we do!!

Speed limit???? I'm unfamiliar with the term. I've been up to the rev limit though Yes

Mostly theres just not alot of LEOs around that and I know when and where to let my heavy hand do its thing. One of these days though I'll most likley get a ticket, hopefully the officer that gets me knows me ( we do alot of towing for the county, they actually call me at my house and bust my azz out of bed occasionally) and adjusts my ticket accordingly.

I'll see if I can get some pics up this week once I get the grill fabbed up and fitted, my co worker just got a new high end phone so he can probbably take them and e-mail them to me. Paint is close...so close I can smell it...and it makes me dizzy.
