Well the whole Speedstar kit is geared for more power. I had some headwork done at the same time ( so didn't expect the ECU to have perfect set up) and eventually had a "spark knock or "ping" as many call it at a certain rev range and load. Some dynotuning /PCIII work seems to have cured that. The Speedstar ECU does adjust timing to maximize power also.
I am not up on all the latest add ons for DynoJet's PCIII. I hear they have a PC IV or V that might be worth looking at. Try their site www.dynojet.com I think.
I think you at least would need the Power Commander and a Dynotune or fiddle with it yourself to tune out the ping. I don't think you would want the S* ECU unless you at least have the cams and springs.
