    Speedstar or PCIII

What are the pros and cons of each. I especially want to know if the Speedstar has the ignition adjusted for high comp pistons. This is what I have:

    2002 Warrior

    PR HP pistons

    Churchkey's Big Air

Modified stock exhaust (stock collector cut off and replaced with 2 1/4 inch collector and outlet thru a Super Trapp muffler)

    Stock ECM

THE PCIII is only a  fuel management module...you'd have to get the ignition module along with the PCiii if you wanted to control/adjust timing and so on. The Speedstar module raises the rev limiter from what I know...it might do more and I'm sure that others will chime in with their knowldege. Geeked

I understand the speed* ecu retards the ignition and you do not have the ability to do any customizing with it. I would go pc3 with the power commander ignition modual. If you have stock cams you do not need to raise the rev limiter yet. Get a pc3 with a good fuel map and you should be good to go with that setup.

Both what? Are you talking about the PCIII and ignition module? Any of you out there that have this setup let me know what is involved. I've read alot of posts about the PCIII, but I don't remember anyone posting about the ignition module. What kind of ignition and/or timing adjustments does it give you and is it worth it?

    Re: Speedstar or PCIII

I was referring to your original question. I have both the Speedstar ECU and the PC III . So I have the timing adjusted and the higher rev limit and base tune for my Speedstar components from the ECU . Then as usual I have the PC III to fine tune for differences from the Speedstar kit , different riding style etc. I can't give you your answers regarding the new dynojet products. Maybe they can achieve all this and more !?

Ok, thanks. So is the Speedstar to help with spark knock with HC pistons? I get a little when it's hot weather, and I didn't want to go the route of doubling up on the head gaskets to lower the compression as I've seen some on here do. How about the ignition module, know anything about that?

    Re: Speedstar or PCIII

Well the whole Speedstar kit is geared for more power. I had some headwork done at the same time  ( so didn't expect the ECU to have perfect set up)  and eventually had a "spark knock or "ping" as many call it at a certain rev range and load. Some dynotuning /PCIII  work seems to have cured that. The Speedstar ECU does adjust timing to maximize power also.

I am not up on all the latest add ons for DynoJet's PCIII. I hear they have a PC IV or V that might be worth looking at. Try their site www.dynojet.com I think.

I think you at least would need the Power Commander and a Dynotune or fiddle with it yourself to tune out the ping. I don't think you would want the S* ECU unless you at least have the cams and springs.
