     No luck from DHL.

DHL says that motorcycles are "dangerous goods" and thus can not be transported with in the container.

I have no idea where they came up with this idea, since there are actually ship's that transport even trucks and other "dangerous goods".

But no use arguing with them, they have made up their minds.

I'll contact this popular finnish chopper magazine, and ask if they would have an idea how to get the bikes here and back with a worthable shipping cost's.

This would be pretty kewl. Id even bet we could some how get yamaha involved. If they found out that multiple country yami riders were meeting up to go on a long ride, im sure they would at least show up. I just check American Airlines and British Airways and flights from Chicago to Oslo range from $475 - $600. I set days in the mid of april in 2010, just to get a idea of cost. I didnt think that was that bad of a price. 2 G's for shipping on the bike plus lets say $500 for expenses, just a rough number, thats about 3K for a European bike ride. That doesnt sound to far off from a week in London.......

I thought this one myself too. I dont think that they would give us any money, but, what if they would give us the possibility to use one their containers.

Or use their account for shipping. Meaning, that they must have deals with shipping agents, so, if Yamaha got the container for their prize, and those who would want to come, payed the shipping fee to Yamaha for the use of the container. Fair deal, and lots of good pr for Yamaha.

It might be a long shot, but it's worth asking for.

If any of you have any contacts with the US navy, tell them to bring one of those aircraft carries mid way. Problem solved.

We're meeting half way, get drunk, and drag race on the flight deck!  Big Smile

The object is to start from Oslo and ride to Helsinki with apropriate stops in Sweden.

    Re: Scandinivia tour 2011?

I was just surffin' the net, and I found this, just thought if it would help...

     http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/links/shipping

    And about that bike rental...

    http://www.lazyboyz.no/render.aspx?pageId=23

But, for the record, it wouldnt be the same thing. I'm hoping for a Warrior-bike tour.

I understand the challenges to bringing this all together, but I am still optimistic and work to find a worthable way to make this tour happen.
