    Problem!! guys need some help

Alright so this is the story. I did the ais block off, and the barons BAK. Came apart nicely, went back together fairly well. I have everything connected (I think) I have no open electrical connectors they are all plugged in. So the problem is, I try and start the bike, cranks over hard no error codes yet bike wont fire. It sounds like its out of time or something. I get the the smell of fuel and it will sometimes throw a blue flame out the exaust. I dont have any pictures to show what I have done and where I am at. Any help with this would be great... Please. Thanks guys

Did you pull the spark plug wires off for any reason while you were doing your BAK. Maybe you hooked them up backwards when you put them back on.

+1 on the plug wires, and also the coil's primary wires.  For the -AIS are you sure you installed the rubber end nipple on the #1 (rear) cylinder's venturi base (or on the extension hose going to the AIS location under the left scoop)?

When you did the BAK did you also install a sensor and coil relocating plate?  It comes with the Baron's kit so I figure you probably did, so may I ask if you tagged all the wires and hoses on disassembly to aid reassembly?  Admittedly mixing these usually results in an eror code but as time marches on we see a lot of new and exotic reassembly combinations lol.

yes i did use the relocation plate. i did however mix up the coil wires, or i should say my 5yr old saw the taks on the wires and decided to remove them

Sounds like that is your problem. Sounded like your plugs are fireing 180 out.

so does that mean i have the lead wires going to the coils reversed or the plug wires themselves. the throttle side is the right correct?

After reading all your posts, I am on the plug wires crossed band-wagon. If you have the wires crossed it would really create havov. In that case both cylinders would try to fire at the same time. There is no way your bike could run. Without going out in the garage to look at mine I would think that both wires of the right coil go to the right cylinder. The same for the wires on the left coil. Best wishes, keep us informed.

The R and L is as your sitting on the bike. You are most likely backwards were the wires plug into the front of the coils. If you can wait I am fixing to go over where my bike is right now. I have my tank off right now and I will check the order of the wire colors for you.

If you have the wires crossed the cylinders will fire 180 out. That would cause the exact problem you are having. I recently fought the same thing on my XS650.

Yep.  AS long as both plug wires from each coil are going to the same cylinder, reversed coil wires is the most likely problem.  At least it's an easy fix.

Each coil has two spark plug wires. Both wires should go to the same cylinder. You would end up having both spark plug wires from the coil on the left (AIS) side of the bike going to the REAR cylinder. It doesn't matter which plug they connect to, but i'm sure some memory or length in the wires will help you figure that out. Both wires from the right (throttle) side of the bike go to the FRONT cylinder. These spark plug wires are noticeably shorter than the other two.

While you are at the coils, check that the primary wires haven't been switch furthering the confusion. The coil on the left should have a black/orange wire supplying it and the right side should have a black/white wire.

Good job man, I was going to have to go look at it. I couldn't remember off the top of my head.

Sorry, forgive me if I'm out of line but I have a sense things are getting confused now.

    • There are primary coil wires that go from the bike to the coils.
    • There are secondary coil wires that go from the coils to the spark plugs.

For this fix, you shouldn't just say 'coil wires' its important to say 'primary coil wire' or 'secondary coil wire.'   The spark plug wires are the secondary coil wires.

Any combination of these could be wired wrong.

Happily, the correct wire placements are all described in reply posts right here for your convenience!

(again sorry if it seems rude but it seems like a good idea to be sure to avoid more troubles!)
