from Evansville I am just over 1 hournorth east. Small town of Paoli just moved here from French Lick (home town of legend Larry Bird). I-64 east hwy 37 North Jct of Hwy 37 and hwy 150.

I rode it in the rain yesterday trying to check it out to get a base line before tuning, and ended up pushing it back. Think battery is bad. It was running good in the shop and during the first part of the ride. Then it would not rev under load noticed that the voltage was lower than normal. Then it would not pull itself then would not free rev over 3000 then would not run. Thought it was flooded so pulled plug nice clean white burn. That battery is really old so I'll try that. I did have to charge it up the other day. It ran down trying to get bike started after installing dry carbs. Takes alot of cranking to fill those empty carbs. They will not gravity feed though the fuel pump. I should have bottle feed them I guess. I had a rocket due the same thing a few years ago. It can't hurt to change that Stone age battery.

PROJECT BIKE...Rebuild that beast.  I'm still trying to buy this bike once the guy gets the title straight.  It's an 83 GL1100...started as a fully dressed aspencade.

Now that is effin kewl!

Bike is becoming a nightmare. The fuel pump went out thts why I had to push it home last time.Fixed that then the front brake starts sticking. Then the battery calls it quits.

The bike started doing this big surge 950---2500rpm. I figured the intakes were leaking so while I fix that I notice there is fuel setting on the valves. So I got a float hi or needle not seating. That really sucks. Due to you have to drain coolant remove coolant crossover tubes air filter, some linkage, and the just hope they come out. Ihave not even got arount to syncing the carbs yet. That may take the surge away but wont help the flooding situation.

Work is not letting me have much home time, So thets not helping much with the situation.Mon went to Washington D.C. then up to Boston, MA. Flew home this morning. Then they are now wanting me to go to Columbus,GA.

just to make things easy i would take the carbs off and build a box to go between the manifolds then on top of the box or side if you want it to look really custom put either a small down draft carb or a side draft 42- 45 mm michuni carb, or your basic harley carb ebay very cheap,that will make it where there is no syncing the carbs and will still be more then enough for the bike as far as fuel. way simpler and way easier to work on and really not that much to fab up . if im thinking correctly the carbs that are stock make their own intake box, so just take the carbs out of the way and build from there. you wont think twice about the mod after you see how well it will work and run. btk572

Thanks I've seen that mod done. Ever now and again you can find an intake set up on ebay

That is a great idea if you aren't worried about keeping everything stock.  With carbs as old as those I'd be willing to bet the needle and seat are bad and causing the flooding.  I went through that same thing last fall with my V65. 

what is aggrivating is I just went through them. New jets, float pins, Needles, and seats, etc.

check out the "Bulldog Bobber" , I believe it's a 1979 , An internet search for Bulldog Bobber will reveal tons of info, it's very well known.

I Have not gave up yet. I've just been working so much I have not had time. Come home go to bed get up go to work. Man hate to sound like a wuss but I do not need the money that bad and I am tired.
