    dyna coils,new wires and plugs

Ok I am going to buy the dyna coils d2-1 prob. from phats will these bolt right where the stock ones are? and I am thinking yellow wires, where can I get these and will there be 4 wires already to plug in plus I am going to replace the plugs and am not sure which plugs I should get and what gap they should be. I have a pc3 and will be doing to v-bak and ais block all at the same time as the dyna coils and wires any help would be greatly appreciated thank you very much.

thanks for the reply. I still cant find if they will bolt right into where the stock coils are,And I read that you need 90degree boots and 135degree boots but is that only if the coils are moved on to the left side. what boots are needed  in the stock position. and lengths

Just go and purchase a 8mm high performance plug set (Accel) at your local car parts store. These kits come in all different colors. Make sure to purchase the kit for V-8's they provide you with numerous different variations of degreed boots to fit all applications and different length cables to help you relocate your coils. It is less expensive then purchasing a Warrior specific wire set off of Phat's or anyother motorcycle specific dealer of parts.

Yes, the Dyna Colis will mount in the stock position with slight modification as it will under your tank.

I have the new coils mounted but am not so sure about the 2 wires that are going to each coil, they are real close to the motor, should I run these wires over the top of the coils. they are at the bottom right where the top corner of the motor is.

They are a little wider than the factory coils and a touch longer. I had some problems getting them to fit into my relo plate but I managed to modify it (the plate) so that the coils would fit properly. Just wait to you get those things on...throttle response is waaaaaaaay better and my mileage improved by 6-8 mpgs depending on how I ride.....one of the best installs.

I went  and bought the accell crimpers and  can not get the ends crimped right so that they will go into the coi. what a pain in the a$$ this mod has been with these custom wires.

Re: dyna coils, new wires and plugs

The coils are .250' wider than the stockers and will need an allowance divot for the screw-in ring terminal from the stock wiring harness. If you have one of the relocation platesand a V-BAK, you'll need to move the rear coil back roughly 2" as the Dyna won't clear the throttle body stack. I modded my plate with a dremel/zip disc. I can send you pics of mine if you want. AkitaDog's plate has to be hacked in order to get these coils in under the tank....He's working on one for me right now. If you are mounting them on the left side, you don't have to worry. I bought Taylor blue wires from J&P Cycles with 90 and 135 degree boots in blue...they also carry red, yellow, green, black I think.

    Hope this helps!

I have the coils in the stock location, my problems is crimping the end to put into the coil it just doesnt come out right and it wont go into the coil all the way when I got one in and pulled it out the wire and the crimped part seperated. and they just look terrible with a 30.00 accell crimper it doesnt work right.

I used just a pair of needle nose pliers to crimp the brass onto the wire...do each one separately and once they are locked in, just give them both a good squeeze. Hope this helps you!

PS: You may need to tweak the nubs of the clamps before they go into the coils....a little twist or squeeze can make a difference.Yes

thanks for the replies, I went to the local harley dealer and they crimped them for me for free. The one thing I am not so sure about is how far they are going  into the coilsome of them I kinda felt a snap when it was all the way in but the other I pushed them in real hard with pliers, there is some of the brass showing that didnt go in the coil maybe a 1/4 inch or less. I started it and went for a ride it seems to run fine.I couldnt hear the snap some people are talking about. I closed the gaps on my iridiums from .032 to .028 would this setup with the dyna coils cause the bike to run lean?

That would only change the size/intensity of the spark...and with a smaller spark, you might not be burning all the fuel in the combustion chamber...it'd be a bit rich, I think.  That'd cause poor mileage if it was bad enough...not to mention fouling the plugs... you'd want the biggest most powerful spark to ignite the maximum amount of fuel.
