    Arizona Warrior:

On cars I'd always swap wrist pins when replacing pistons but 3,200 miles in all those years . . . holy cow.  Yep, they might be fine.

    JFrack77:

Hmmm that is something i will think about.   The bike only has 3200 miles on it, do you still think it could possibly need new pins?

Yup, between getting married, buying a house, and just other things that have come up, she's pretty much been sitting....  Cant wait to get the recall work done so i can rider er more!

JFrak, to be honest I have been riding the bike the last two days and have completely forgotten about looking at the VIN.  I will definitely look tomorrow.  BTW what is the recall exactly for?

I finally remembered to check the VIN and mine is stamped in the frame not on a plate as in the picture earlier.  If this is the right place to look the only additional stamping is after the final digit and it is just one single point stamp.  I am assuming that this means this bike has had no recalls performed, if so do I go to the stealership and they will perform all of the recalls that are needed?

I would still call the dealership to have them look it up.  If it needs it, you need to call them so they can order the kit.  Im still waiting on mine to come in, been over a week now.  Most of the folks on here also had high compression pistons installed and the roadstar 5th gear.  You can search for recall and hc pistons, should bring up alot of hits.   Im only doing the pistons, no roadie 5th gear.

Why a roadstar fifth gear? I have an 03 and have no idea about any recalls or if they have been done.

    Re: 02/03 Transmission Recall

I contacted the dealership and found that the transmission had already been done. I scheduled to have the TPS and pick up coil done. They had no idea about any piston stuff, was there a recall or were you just replacing them while the engine was open?

    Re: 02/03 Transmission Recall

Many of us had the RS 5th gear set and HC pistons put in during the recall because there was no labor charge since they had to tear everything down anyway.  To answer your earlier question, the RS 5th gear set gives you the bike a .75 overdrive.  The stock overdrive was .80.  RPM in 5th gear is dropped by 150, saves a bit of gas.
