    Kuryakyn Grip installation

Installed some Kuryakyn ISO grips on a set of Yamaha TT Fat bars today.  I haven't glued on the left side grip yet because I want some advice first.  I pushed the left grip on all the way without using the spacer and measured from the center of the bar to the end of the grip on both sides.  Both sides measure about equal give or take 1/4" or so.  My question is, did you guys use the hard rubber spacer in your left side grip?  Also, can I just use hairspray for this grip?  It came with glue, but I'd like to have the option of getting it off in the future if a situation presents itself.

I didn't use the spacer (actually I don't remember a spacer, but it was a while ago)Huh?.  I just put glue on about half way around the grip.  It held for two years, but recently in one of my scarier Warrior moments (involving and 80 yr. old blind gramma's lane change) I managed to loosen it up.  However, it's still holdong onto the bar find, it's just that now I can move it if I twist.

a lot of people on here, including myself, have used hairspray with very good results. make sure you clean the bar and the inside of the grip with alcohol and a lint free rag. spray the inside of the grip, slide it on where you want it and don't touch it for 24hrs. the glue doesn't give you any time to align the grip... if you stop moving it, its stuck there. good luck!

No spacer (don't remember a spacer) and glue.

I didn't need the spacer, and put plenty of hairspray inside before installing.  No problems since.  They are great grips, you will like them.

No spacer, no glue.  But I have successfully removed a left side grip ISO grip that was glued without destroying the grip or the bars.  I used WD40, a butter knife, and a lot of elbow grease.

A timely topic as I ordered my grips last night.

I just replaced my left ISO Grip after an unfortunate backing out of the garage accident. I didn't have the spacer on the first set and didn't use it the second time around. I used the full tube of glue, or close to it both times. When it came time to remove the left grip I just grabbed it and twisted as hard as I could and it broke free and slide right off. Used a razor blade to clean off the glue remnants (came off easy) and put the new one on. BTW, if anyone needs a brand new ISO for the throttle side let me know.

    Re: Kuryakyn Grip installation

The grip glue is made so the grip can be un-installed but at the same time to grab enough to keep the grip in place under pulling-pressure over the years and also to stick in high ambient temperatures.

I usually lift an edge of the grip and shove my thin air compressor nozzle between the grip and the bar, then wrap my fingers around the grip to seal the air in and give it a few shots.  The air lifts the grip glue quickly and the grip can then be rotated off as usual.  If needed, a little WD40 will help it slip off once the grip glue has been loosened, then just clean it off before re-installing.  Hope this helps.
