Not as fancy as some of these, but I just went with a single color.  It is different than stock, and was still affordable.  I would consider doing a lot more if I had the $$ down the road but it's my starting point.  It's a 3 step paint from PPG, base, pearl, clear.

It looks dark maroon most of the time but the metalic and bright green and gold comes out in the sunlight.  Very hard to get a picture.  I love it.

And when it isn't in the sun...

    or

    DUDE!

    That's PPG's color called "Rattlesnake" isn't it!! ?

Don't touch that please, your primitive intellect wouldn't understand alloys and compositions and things with... molecular structures.

I can never remember if it was rattlesnake or snakeskin when someone asks so I didn't put it in the post but you are correct, rattlesnake.  I was going to paint it a very dark heavy metalic grey but my painter convinced me to look at a few other colors.  I'm THRILLED that he did.

I called a local paint supply shop 2 weeks ago to get a quote on PPG's Rattlesnake. It's a 2 part paint system, a base and a top coat...obviously plus the final clears. Stuff goes for like 85$ for a 1/2 pint of each the base and top. That's the color I "WAS" planning to do this winter!!! Dude you beat me to it!! no I have to start over again.....or...maybe not!!!, lets see...where do you live?...it's not like we're gonna run into each other!!

I'm in Pittsburgh, PA.  I think you're safe to use the same color!  That price sounds about right.  I think he charged me $160 for the paint itself on the invoice.

I don't know if it is the clear he used, that I've never had such a smooth paint job on anything before or what, but it scratches easily. Just light one and they polish out with little more than the wax itself, but the maintenance is a biatch!  At least by my standards.

I highly recommend Wizards Products for getting rid of those pesky spider scratches. If you want more info you can pm me.
